Ever been on a gaming binge where you started with something and couldn't/wouldn't stop, and the days flew past while you really meant to be doing other things?

First time for me was when I discovered Fallout 1,2 about 5 years ago. I think I 'binged' for about 2-3 weeks playing those two games(mostly the second one). Not sure why, buy I think I fell hook line and sinker for the atmosphere.
More recently I lost about a week with Kerbal Space Program. Luckily my pc stopped that binge because it simply couldn't deal with the massive 1000 part+ rockets I was trying to launch.

I "binged" on morrowind hard when it first came out. I'd never played anything like it, and I was wandering around the world, with the big folded map on my desk, doing one quest after another.

Also, the Metal Gear Solid games. I'm not a huge console gamer, but every one of these games, once I pick them up, I just have to keep playing until I finish. I would only stop briefly to eat and sleep when my body couldn't take any more. Great, great games!

The bigger part of 2013 has been one large Eador:Genesis binge for me. It hit me out of nowhere, never expected a new game this good to ever come out.

i think i lost a complete semester playing diablo 2 and gothic 3 (a semester each).

Yeah I remember those days when it was still incredibly novel to be exposed to this massive highly detailed world where you had complete freedom to go wherever you wanted to go, and do whatever you wanted to do. When I first played it I decided: to hell with the quest, I'm gonna dive for pearls in this here river.

I've been thinking that I should consider getting a Playstation 1 and/or 2 so that I can play games such as Metal Gear that I missed. You know, the timeless classics of the consoles( except the fps titles :P )

By the way, good luck with your country's hellish heat wave. If it makes you feel any better, we also have a killer heat wave in Gauteng at the moment with temperatures reaching the high 30s in places. Oh no, I'm staying away from that one because the same will probly happen to me if I try it. I've seen what can happen with games such as Age of Wonders and Disciples II especially...

New Fallout or Elder Scrolls games usually bring about a binge.

I also played The Old Republic pretty much non-stop for a while last Summer, but there were some outside the game life issues involved there.

Civ is crazy. One time, just for the heck of it, I decided to run the original on dosbox in the morning just to see my old childhood friend again - I did nothing else for the day...
For me at least, Civ has a built in deterrent for excessive binge sessions: After I finish a typical game, in 2 days or so, I feel fulfilled and move onto something else :P Regardless, the civ scenarios can be deadly

Heh, Diablo 2 made me hate a loud keyboard(i.e. mechanical) and mouse. It could wake my parents :P
Ah, I kind of miss my lvl71 barbarian. I had to stop playing though because I didn't level his magical attack skill which got me in trouble with mob leaders that were Ghostly/Phased and Immune to Physical :P

The Cat Lady did that for me. Sure, it's not very long, still - it costed me a sleepless night and coming to work a bit too late :)
And Torment, long time ago. I bought it, brought it home and decided to see what it is about. It was around 10 PM. Next time I remember - it's 4:30 AM and I need to go to school in 3 hours.

I'm guessing the answer to that confusing question is 'no, never'?

It is a silly thread, yeah. No way to feel better about excessive gaming than to know others are doing it as well :P

Your copy should be arriving soon I hope. Actually I'm more curious about whether or not that fan installer is going to work. If so then I'll buy the game again myself : my copy was stolen by a car mechanic The new Fallout games? O yeah, I kind of got lost in them as well. I played Fallout3 and Bioshock simultaneously I remember, over 1-2 weeks. The only thing I missed was that Mad Max esque feel of the originals

Hmm, the Cat Lady? Well by the looks of it it might keep me from sleeping as well :P Torment is brilliant - especially the fmv sequences for super spells - I hope that idea makes a resurgence sometime
Ugh, they knew they were going for a console release and so entering a new market. If the player base was exclusively PC then perhaps they would have listened to our woes. I dunno, I'm guessing it was because they wanted to try and develop a pipeline income from the game's RMAH? In fact I would put up with the online nonsense as long as they dropped RMAH - I thought it obvious that that the RMAH was going to ruin the drop rate of usable high tier items relative to d2, and in d2 it was already an incredible feat to complete an entire set. That killed the game for me right there.
