No more international exchange for students through EU programme. I'm not surprised. Most students beneficienting Erasmus project wanted to go to foreign country to drink and have sex for free, so how could this thing be affordable? ;P

Dont say that. I was drinking a lot and hat much.... doesn't matter .
Its bad for people who were planing to use it, still there are other ways to get a lot of cash off EU for research and stuff and waste it on tha same stuff.
I remember when I was getting twice as much money to study as my professors for teaching. Ah great times.

(I never was an Erasmus student, would have been a waste of time for me. But I reeked in the benefits ;-) )

Yeah I guess its like that with a lot of people. We had really specific selection with tests and witting articles on the research topics so I think some branches had it managed better than the others. I guess others managed stuff differently.
Still its better to waste that stuff on students that bureaucracy that is done in EU. They party and bullshit all year round for crazy amount of money.

The programme is/was deeply flawed, there's no doubt about that. Can't say I'm terribly sad to see it go. But something better should take its place, the idea is good.

Let's call it Freudian ;-). Germany had a brilliant program running in the '40s to let young Germans see Europe. Somehow it didn't catch on ...

You didn't take erasmus for drinking and having sex, because you have enough of cheap beer, vodka and beautiful women (not cheap :P) in Czech Republic ;-)

But for most students, the only benefit they took from Erasmus programme were... friends with benefits :P

Woah, that sucks. Ok, I never made use of the program (did my term abroad in the US thanks a to partner college), but I know so many people who did. I studied Anglistics, and a term of studies in an English-speaking country was mandatory for us. Erasmus was the preferred choice for many students with philological backgrounds. If that falls through, there's gonna be a lot of trouble. >_>

YES. Back to the middle ages. Well, it's either that, of taxing some billionaires, which would be clearly blasphematory towards our global religion of Money=Virtue=Money. Let's not anger the Gods further.

Mhm. It never paid enough to really make a difference, financially wise, but it was great to get universities to cooperate.

I moved out as an exchange students twice - first from Germany to Belgium then, after a few people chickened out of their places a week before they were meant to leave, from Germany to Sweden (as there's only funding for the first exchange - that one without any financial support for me - yet, it wouldn't have happened without the exchange program). Switched universities to the one in Sweden, eventually, finished my degree there: The European University Credit system meant that I could get some of my previous studies accredited toward that Swedish degree ... then moved on to the UK and completed another two degrees here.

It certainly helped me open up to a more genuine European identity, really, then what I have had beforehand. But as with anything, of course, the use of it all depended on the student in question - and sadly a lot of universities exchange related activities (I never really participated, rather being with 'local' students) separated exchanges students from everyone else, a lot.

Bilionaires always find a way to avoid taxation. Google pays like 10% tax at most. But it's still more than most other businesses :P
