Just found out about these guys:
http://www.edigames.com/
They seem to produce some pretty high quality classic point and click games and ARPGs...there's only two so far...they're about ten bucks! :)
Might pick one or two up..
Edit: Oh, they dont believe in DRM. Hehe.

No indie dev would ever stand for DRM....

Yeah, I know, cause they're sensible. But I thought I would make a note to be sure. :)

The guy who owns EDI is a friend of mine. Really stand up guy, and a clever cat too. I recommend his games whole heartedly.
I feel bad for Raymond maintaining those forums, seeing as the first three help topics I clicked on were related to piracy.
You should play the demos first before actually buying them. Morning's Wrath had a great concept: point n click isometric rpg, mixed with some adventure elements, nice dialogue. Sounds like it has everything going for it right? Wrong, it's spoiled by a poor interface. It's almost a chore to try to melee attack an enemy in the beginning, and that in itself ruins the game already. Sad, the game had such great promise. I really liked the dialog, and Princess Morning is an awesome kick ass protagonist.
I haven't tried Malathedra, but reviews I saw are lukewarm to it, so might want to tread carefully on that one too.
If EDI can get their team together to fix up issues plaguing Morning's Wrath, it'd be a real seller. I think they need to get their priorities right.

And he replied quick to my forum thread too. Although it didn't help much with regards to my interface problem, I appreciate him responding fast. That's cool.

aye, to a long time player of Action RPGs, Morning's Wrath.. fails. It feels very clunky, the controls are not even remotely intuitive, and attacking is a bitch. Enough so that less than 20 minutes in (including the intro of boringness), I exited the demo, likely for good.
Shame, I love me action RPGs, and I like indie developers.
lol i was just about to say mornings wrath looks interesting... and then i read the above comments.
ill check the demo just to be sure, but i cant really see myself getting it if the interface is poor.
edit - yes it is quite poor which is a shame because it has all the trappings of being an interesting story.
but the pathfinding and interface are bad, i found the mouse cursor sluggish and the woman too slow moving around even when shes running.

Aw that's dissapointing. :(
I was planning on trying the demos, yeah..I'm really picky on interface, so I guess I wont be buying, though..

Well you may still be able to overlook interface issues with the magic system. I heard magic is less cumbersome than melee, but I'm not a very forgiving person when it comes to interfaces. Don't let me discourage you, try the demo first, you might like it.
My 2 cents,
The game (Morning's Wrath) looks lovely, sounds lovely, plays great and the content present in the demo was interesting enough to make me skip lunch.
I absolutely loved the black and white art and the music theme used for the Leowyns and Ashidians back story. Morning's story (main story) seems very worthwhile. Dialogues are well written.
I had no issues with pathfinding, interface, or any other but i do agree that melee seems to take a bit of getting used to.
There was really no need for Morning to nudge me to grab the full version at the end of the demo, 'cause i was already sold by the time she reached the tainted Mana Well. Just downloaded the full version and i can't wait to venture into the Eastern path :)
I played the demo at 1600x1200. No crashes, freezes, lockups, slowdowns or any other such beasts.
I guess i'll have to take a look at Malathedra's demo aswell, and keep an eye out for Caverns of the North.
Right now i'm going out to get some much needed FOOD.

Thanks for the link and for pointing out EDI.
Morning's Wrath is quite a short game and not particularly difficult for the hardened gamer, but it has an interesting story, fun gameplay, and some challenging puzzles. After the first part of the game it becomes largely non-linear, allowing you to weigh up the risk of going into the tougher area to gain more powerful artifacts against staying in the easier area and gaining enough levels to take on the tougher area with less difficulty. Even at the very end of the game there are some powerful enemies that can take down Morning very quickly if they get the chance.
The equipment system is fairly simple, but the nature of it leads to a few dilemmas of what items to keep. Most items are generated with a Diablo-style prefix/suffix system. Each piece of equipment can have two prefixes and one suffix, so there is a huge amount of variety, and the randomness of it all means you can't just go to certain places every time to find the same set of items.
I played Morning's Wrath on GameTap when it was a free play title; I don't really know that it is worth the asking price (US$10?); having said that I would certainly be very keen to see another game set in the same universe. With a bit of polish and experience they could start churning out some really great games based on Morning's world.

You're welcome!
Thanks for the review. I'm more interested to try now.
Same to Arkose. :)

You know, I forgot all about the magic system. :) It lets you combine effect elements to create custom spells; rather than a certain combination leading to a pre-defined effect (as in Arx Fatalis and the like) the components stack in the order provided to result in a truly custom spell. It's really quite an interesting idea, although in the end I found a reasonably powerful combination and stuck with that through much of the game. Additional effects are earned as you progress (if I recall correctly), so you can't just make an uber-spell right away once you know what chain of effects works best.
