Does the series have a good story, or is it solely gameplay? Do note that my standards are quite high.

The first one's was so-so - starting with a case of amnesia. It's mostly gameplay.

Can't say for the 2nd. Bought it awhile back but still haven't gotten around to playing it..

The story isn't spectacular, but it's good enough to carry the game along and keep one interested. The story for the second is stronger than the first, and the gameplay is solid enough to carry things well in between the story.
