I didn't try to install it so maybe that would've answered my question, but do I have to be a member or register for something to download this free game or is Desura like Steam and in order to play this free game I would have to install the Desura client?

Never mind, I went ahead and tried and sure enough a client is required. Oh well. Anyone know if it's available from anywhere else as just a download?? Looks very interesting.

As far as I know, the client is not mandatory. Just create an account on their website and while logged in, try to download it.
What Fifeldor said. You don't need the client, just an account. There should be a link when you try to install it that lets you view standalone downloads.

Desura doesn't make it terribly obvious that you don't need their client, but you really don't.

- Go to the page lowyhong linked to
- Click on the "Free" button next to the WIndows icon.
- In the Desura popup, click on "view standalone downloads"
- click on the link to the standalone download

mondo84: Desura is GOG's beautiful, pure sister.
Nah, Desura is not DRM-free, it's DRM-neutral, so she is more like GOG's slightly whacky half-sister with a history of dating bad boyfriends and drinking too much.
Thanks for the heads-up, I've added this to Desura and I'll try it when I get the time.
Is there any way to change the resolution in this?

You probably can in the .ini, but just get it over and done with. It only lasts 30 minutes (just completed it with my eyes half hidden behind a pillow)

Oh, really? Maybe I'll give this one a try tonight, if it's that short. I was thinking I wasn't quite ready to get involved in another Amnesia-like trial of fire.
Technically, you can complete it in 15 if you know where the keycards are :P

You can download game installers, and you can run games outside of the client. Seems DRM-free to me.
Anyone else completed this yet?

Not yet. Was going to give it a go last night but got involved with other stuff. Like writing my Dishonored review :3

Maybe tonight

No. No I'm not. I couldn't even play 15 minutes of Slender :(

I did get through Amnesia, though. But that was a labor of love.

I look forward to trying it. And yes, probably at night. If it only takes 30 minutes to get through, I'm going to "iron man" it, I think. Just for the experience. Start the game at night with the lights out and don't stop until I finish it. Or die. In real life, I mean.
