Among the core self-identified purposes of JTRIG are two tactics: (1) to inject all sorts of false material onto the internet in order to destroy the reputation of its targets; and (2) to use social sciences and other techniques to manipulate online discourse and activism to generate outcomes it considers desirable.

To see how extremist these programs are, just consider the tactics they boast of using to achieve those ends: “false flag operations” (posting material to the internet and falsely attributing it to someone else), fake victim blog posts (pretending to be a victim of the individual whose reputation they want to destroy), and posting “negative information” on various forums.

Under the tactics they use, the state is deliberately spreading lies on the internet about whichever individuals it targets, including the use of what GCHQ itself calls “false flag operations” and emails to people’s families and friends.

i witnessed this go down in text book style while closely monitoring the Occupy Movement. Governdent trolls invoked all the socially sensitive cards for purpose of division. Race, gender identity, economic status, and religious & political ideology, being some of their most effective tools. They disrupted our communications with computer attacks. Visited physical violence upon our street assemblies. Salted our discussions, discredited our purpose, denied our democratic practice. Plus more and worse. i saw it go down so i know. The opposite of how a democratically controlled organization works. i share this article here, so that you may ponder some of this truth as well.

(1) and (2) are parts of propaganda, not trolling. And propaganda is one of the tools you need if you wish to 4X

Not sure if trolling would help to 4X though, need to look a bit more into it.

Edit: Unless you mean the evil trolls are the firstlook guys, didn't read the article yet. Are those the trolls?

While I seriously doubt that anything mentioned in that article has not been done by some governmental agency, the slides themselves are at least partially faked. You can with some small investment of time find out what an actual classification header/footer looks like, at least for the US. I dunno about the UK (I presume the slide you attached is purportedly UK in origin), but the ones that are seemingly supposed to be US-originated? Not right.

The UK classification headers are formatted incorrectly too.
I believe that intelligence services generated that slide because it is so poorly done.
That slide is totally generic. It could be applied to any kind of discussion about groups. Not commenting on whether it's real or not because I have no idea. It could easily be some marketing slide that a troll stuck 'Secret' on the top of.

TL;DR Conspiracy theory is conspiratorial and theoretical. Try harder next time.
i have no first hand knowledge of what documents from a given spy agency would look like, so i wouldn't know what they are supposed to look like, then or now. Nor do i know any of you from jack so i can't know that you would either. What i do know is that this info is said to be from the Snowden release. i know of the author, only this. i give this article a little more credence than normal since it came to my attention by way of todays suggested reading from the office of Bill Moyers (of PBS). One of few journalists i respect. More than twenty years i have been following the reporting of Bill Moyers. And i've dug in the archives for more. Some trust has been established.

What i know of a certain is my opinion of events over the course of two years and counting, as witnessed by me. The contents of this article are in line with my opinion of what i have perceived. Still i don't know. This could be misinformation from the "other side". When searching for truth credibility of source is best i can do. Bill Moyers has much cred with me.

Sheltered much?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COINTELPRO A complete myth and conspiracy right?

Much like the people that have very legitimate concerns about GOG holding its DRM-free promise in light of the regional pricing (whether or not they would actually compromise the whole point of GOG), it's not so outlandish to believe that certain totalitarianesque tactics would be employed by an organization that previously had done so numerous times throughout the course of its history.
These tactics have been going on long since before the internet was even around (just woke up, did you? *mwahahahahahahhahaha* (kidding) )

1. Don't trust anything you read - Trust only what sounds right to YOU.
2. Don't attack anyone on a personal level it only makes you look like one of the conspirators
3. If you believe something bad that someone told you about another (without investigating yourself) you are just as dense as the accuser
4. Google "The Accuser" ;)
Not exactly a new thing. The Church of Scientology has been known to employ those same tactics (in different forms) for years.

I commented on the slide and pointed out that it looked pretty generic. Using painfully generic materials as support is a classic of conspiracy theories.

There's no doubt that many governments, and perhaps all, use force in appropriately. The OP has presented no evidence except hyperbolic statements and a painfully useless slide. Conspiracy theory.
This is new for the depth at which it penetrates. Ponder it to know it.

My bad, did not read the powerpoint. The comment kind of came off as a "that is impossible!" statement. I would be absolutely not surprised if they did something like this though.

Glen Greenwald must've lived most of his life in a really shitty part of town.

I agree with the overall notion the author presents but those charts didn't make sense and were a bit overcomplicated.

The over all morale is to just listen to yourself before others - Most often others are not sinister, they're just terribly egotistical and morbidly stupid.
