I'd like to see more RPGs as well... Shooters I'm not so sure about, though. It turns out that I'm really addicted to the modern graphics and advanced gameplay that is present in the shooters of the present day, and I'm not old enough to feel nostalgic about the shooters of old.

I think that's part of the problem. RPG's are based mostly on story and gameplay choices or rules to make them interesting. Pretty graphics are a factor, but even RPG's with old graphics are still regarded as great games if the story, character creation or choices you make made it into an interesting experience.
Shooters practically use the same formula over and over again, changing bits here and there and depending on great graphics to enhance the experience. Shooters of old compared to shooters of today might seem like they're not that good, with only a few exceptions still standing the tests of time.
When you take that into consideration, you might end up finding more good old rpg's and rts's than good old shooters.

while it's true there have been quite a lot of real time strategy games recently... there is a pretty big variation in those games.
Evil Genius plays nothing like Ground Control, which plays nothing like The Nations which plays nothing like Republic which plays nothing like Empire Earth. And Lords of Magic is turn based.
If it was just a dozen C&C clones (shudder) then i'd be with you, but in this case i think there's a lot of variation in there.
PS/ if you look at the last 20 games you have 6 adventure, 9 rts, 1tbs, 2 shooter, 1 racer, 1 sim. Thats a reasonable mix (and i personally wouldn't put at least 5 of those rts in the rts category. )

And to that I say, "yes please!"
I'm anxiously awaiting that day.
Though I wonder what kind of hell that license may be stuck in, with Sega having the current video game rights, and a whole slew of new titles in the works.
Does Rebellion wholly own the original AvP title?

Not sure... But they're developing AvP3, so one can hope?

some shooters i would like to see here is the serious sam collection :)
now thats fast paced brainless shooting and you shoot where your mouse points.
Nowadays every shooter has recoil. I don't care about recoil , i wan't to shoot where i point at dammit. Unreal Tournament is allso a nice shooterclassic.
about he RTS , yes they've launched a lot of them and i'll buy groundcontrol because it's a nice classic and to support the GOG team.
I've placed a race game once called whacky wheels. I've instantly disliked race games and never played one since.
HertogJan: lol
For those who don't know, we export so much Heineken for a reason: to keep the good stuff for ourselves.
Now that i totally agree on.
I've went on holiday in Holland "Amsterdam" and "Volendam"
About every pub we entered had 3/4 of the beerlist filled with belgian beer ;)
But i like Holland a lot ;) besides the huge mistake heineken is.

No offense, but the UK must be exporting a whole lot of beer than.
I've been there 2 or 3 times and the only descent beers I got there were the imported ones.
The local beers were gross.

Aha, but I prefer RTS and racing games, but don't like shooters! I have completed the triangle!
A few months ago there were very few RTS and many more racers and shooters. It's just balancing out now.

Not so with Denmark. The absolutely best beer we make (this is my subjective opinion, mind you) used to be for export only. You couldn't buy it here at all. The name even says it, it's called "Royal Export". Thankfully, some years ago they wised up to the fact that truckloads of Danes would go to Germany to buy our own beer back from them. I guess they figured that they might as well sell it here directly.
[Edit] So if you ever come across one of these, try it out.

English beers are very different from continental beers. Let me guess - it was flat and warm? Britain doesn't make lager afaik (only foreign ones under licence). Personally I like English beers of the right type (the stuff from the biggest breweries is usually bad stuff). IPA is refreshing - the Rebellion Brewery makes a good one.
On topic, I'm a fan of RTS games but I agree with the need for more variety.

English Beer is very variable. Because the only english beer that exists these days is essentially indie beer. It's made by small breweries and usually in limited batches... problem is you never know what it's gonna be like until you try it... and even if you find something you like, you won't find it again.
Summer Ale was nice... sigh.
