OK, I just got a surprise when I launched steam. The entire list of "New games on Steam" was SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive games.
So, I've got a couple of questions, have anybody tried buying the games, and perhaps seen what kind of emulator they use? Is it some SEGA in house thing or one of the common open source emulators. Either way, do they play well, are they configurable (like, can you set up the controls to match your preferred PC gamepad, can you set resolution/filters and that stuff). One of the reasons I ask that here is that it would seem Steam has no forum for these games yet.
Also, do you think this could mean we'll get to see more emulated classic games on PC, and hopefully also on GOG?
The SEGA library isn't bad, but I'd be even happier to see some of the classic home computers getting their libraries available on GOG, Steam and other places.
I'm in the middle of buying Comix Zone right now, I'll let you know what I find out.
EDIT - and nevermind, kalirion took care of it.

I asked the same question. Here's the reply.

kalirion: I asked the same question. Here's the reply.

Thanks! I tried looking around over at the Steam forums but couldn't find any threads for this, there were no forum links from the store pages either.
That answered the technical questions. :)
I bought Shadow Dancer and Space Harrier II.
The emulator runs very well, though not all that much different to the current emulators.
But its cheap and legal so I can't argue.
As for the games themselves, they are odd choices.
Main reason for that, is that I plan to get the Ultimate collection for the Xbox 360 so I don't see the point of buying games that are already in a big collection.
EDIT: Though its been done before in other emulators, fullscreen TV mode looks awesome on my lappy! :D

Yeah, the emulator they ship with is servicable.
I plan to buy the ones I want that I don't already have, get the ROMs from somewhere, and play it on my emulator of choice.
Not legal, but IMHO ethical. Already bought Vectorman.
Where is Shining Force 1 and 2? Good to see some companies finally getting sense about releasing console games that have been available to us for years legally so I can actually go out and buy it for my native platform. Tracking down Shining Force 2 for the genesis when I don't even have one anymore wasn't fun.
I think I'll wait until the complete pack goes on sale.
I also need to go get me a cheap controller to be able to play these games properly. A keyboard obviously isn't the ideal choice.
edit: Actually, I think I'd prefer to buy Sega Genesis Collection for PS2 which contains all these games except for Sonic and Space Harrier but contains several additional titles all for under $20

I'm just going to wait until the complete pack is in a Steam sale which we all know will happen sooner or later. All those games for €15? Now you are talking.

Doesn't really seem worth it to me...these games have been released in a much cheaper, non-steam format many times before.
I'll probably just use my Bluecoins from GamersGate and get a couple that way. Shame they didn't release any of the Phantasy Star games or the Bare Knuckle (Streets of Rage) ones. Those are probably the only SEGA games likely to get a release these days that I'd be willing to part cash for.
I wouldn't even consider this if it doesn't include the real ROMs. It's very unlikely that I would be satisfied with their emulator.
2,49€ each game, and 29,39€ the pack?
Wow, this is pretty expensive.
Especially considering the Genesis/Megadrive collection I've already bought for PS2, which has something like 40 games in it...
Though, it it pretty interesting, and somehow funny, to see many PC gamers who generally spit on everything about consoles, actually buy this.
I noticed that it says "series 1" at Gamersgate's Sega Mega Drive page, which probably means that we will possibly be seeing more releases in the not so distant future.
Too expensive. If it was half that price, I'd buy them all. At that price, it's too much though. Typical of companies to overshoot the right price mark by being greedy and ending up making less money.
