So today I got a message telling me that something might be malicious because Chrome somehow detected that it isn't downloaded often.

Eh...what?

So apparently Chrome thinks that something being unpopular means it's malicious...

It is the same thing with the SmartScreen FUD a few weeks ago.

What Chrome uses is a reputation-based malware prevention software. Just another malware preventive measure.
But this one is just ridiculous.

The popularity of a file really doesn't account for anything. For all we know, millions of people are downloading a file that could be considered malware, while no one could be downloading something that isn't considered malware.
I tried Chrome for 2 days and promptly went back to Firefox.

Its just how it works. Call it stupid at times, but still, that's how it works. You can safely ignore it if you know what you're doing.

You lasted a day longer than me.

Well, after using Chrome I just absolutely hate the Firefox interface.

I also tried using Opera for a while, but it went from significantly faster than Chrome to significantly slower than Chrome after only two days. Which is a shame, because I really liked it otherwise.

It's a matter of getting used to a different program. I tried Chrome, gave up and later, I forgot the reason why, I decided to give it a proper chance and haven't looked back since.

The way I see it:

- Chrome is much much faster and doesn't slow down nor crash anywhere near as much as Firefox
- It being tied to Google is a positive for me
- I prefer the way it works - one bar to enter everything, intelligent search predictions, translations on the fly, etc.

Firefox has always had a knack of slowing down, crashing, etc. and it's the main reason I left it behind. My Firefox folder was 1.6GB big and even without the caching of websites, still a whopping 450MB. Starting Firefox generally took 10 seconds or so and while later versions were a bit speedier, it still felt a lot less responsive.

I used mozilla for a few years, but had to dump it because the more updated it became, the more bloated it became. FYI, I shouldn't have to clean out my browser and tell it NOT to download plugins, it should ask me if I want to download them FIRST.

IE did the same thing to me, that's why I don't use it either.

Don't get me started on Pretentious.... sorry... Opera.

It used to be that browsers were about browsing the internet; and while I think tabbed browsing is about the best thing to come along since the cookie, that feature doesn't make up for the multitude of crap people are cramming into them.

I use chrome because, after about three minutes in the settings menu, it doesn't get in my way. I am a writer, a husband, a father, a college student and part time Computer Repair guy, I have enough complications.

When I find a browser that's faster, has less useless garbage and is still compatible with current web technology, Chrome goes bye, bye.

i tried Chrome back when it was first released, couldn't set up ad blocking and gave up on it. Some time passed, and a window popped up on system boot asking me why I didn't use Chrome. Insta-uninstall.
Opera Master Race fall in!

Come at me bros.
