And if you live in North America, you can subscribe in time for the April issue. How cool is that? If you do subscribe, tell us non American folk what it's like.
I have very fond memories of getting this magazine back when I had all of the old school consoles... with the internet, not sure how much a gaming magazine is needed...
Frankly I don't think magazines are relevant anymore. Thanks to long production & distribution cycles, they're always a month behind on the news and the advantage of the coverdisc has been pretty much nullified by broadband, it's also handy to only have to download the 1 demo you're interested in rather than wade through a DVD of shit.
There's only 2 things I can think of that magazines do better than websites. Firstly the ads are not animated (and I've never seen a magazine ad for evony) and secondly you can roll up a magazine and hit someone with it
There's no guarantee the magazine is going to be up for more than a few months, or enough to cover the duration of a subscription.
It's not the same staff. Or is it?

Well it's got the old EIC, Dan Hsu, and some of the old people.

Oh that's cool. I somehow got it for free and enjoyed it up until the point that it got canned. I was like "where my EGM at?!" and then I found out where it was, in the can.
Wake me up when they revive the old Computer Gaming World...

Yeah I also got GFW magazine free somehow as well (I really don't know how, maybe a friend subscribed me?) and liked it too, maybe even more so than EGM.

Did the replacement issues turn out to be Maxim? That was pretty cool.

Sadly no replacements, probably because I got it for frees. So then I resorted to subscribing to Play, which I like a lot for the pretty pictures, editorial content may not be the best, but the layout people know what they're doing. What can I say, I like to get my game info while I'm dropping a deuce.
Magazines are obsolete, a waste of money, and enviromentally irresposible.
Now, I am find with commemorative magazines and the like, my Guitar Legends Randy Rhoads magazine is a prized possession of mine, and I am sure many others have magazines they really like.
But using a magazine as they were used in the past, as pulp reading? Completely obsolete.

I like my paper magazines and I'll maim anyone who says otherwise!

As a matter of fact I believe you're obsolete, a waste of money, and environmentally irresponsible. Like Mike said (I'm calling him Mike for the sheer awesomeness how 'like mike' sounds) print mags are sweet.

You subscribing to this new old EGM?
