Before the birth of GoG, I amassed a respectable collection of games on Steam.
I recently got a new computer, and today I installed Steam on it to download some of my games there in anticipation of the easter holidays.
But most of my collection seems to be gone. The only games Steam lists are the enitre ID super pack, as well as Half Life 2 + Episode One. These are the only games I can see in my Steam client, no matter what.
I do own far more games though. The entire PopCap collection for one, Titan Quest + Exp., STALKER, Orange Box, a heap of different Indie titles, +++
Can anybody clue me in? I emailed Steam support but naturally it's taking ages.
As games don't just vanish from the non installed list (unless they are free games), double check you're actually logging into the correct Steam account.
My Steam account is fine, nothing is missing. The only thing I can recommend you is to have patience with their crappy support
I have only one account and it's the same I've always had. Never even changed the password once, let alone accounts.
So it is the correct account.
This has been happening throughout the entire day, the friends tab said they are on maintenance for the moment, which might be true because I haven't been able to play left 4 dead and all my achievements are gone. On the steam forums some say games have vanished and some others have similar problems to mine.
I guess when they finish the maintenance everything will be back to normal.
they said some big updates are coming.
Maybe the big update is that you must buy your games again! ^___^
they said some big updates are coming.
Oh oh, are they finally going to provide service that can't be considered crap? Or are they just going to roll out junk that isn't really needed.
Seriously, I the last year, I've gone from using Steam as my preferred method of purchasing games to it being my last resort due to how crap they have become. And God forbid you have a third party game that requires a patch.

If you still have the Steam install on the old PC, just copy the steamapps directory from that one onto the new one, then delete the ClientRegistry.blob file from the new one. Start up Steam and login, then go to your games tab. You should see all your games there. You will need to verify data integrity on all of them, but you won't have to re-download any of them.
here you go
a link to a post on the steam forums regarding downtime.

"Just copy the steamapps directory"? Depending on how many games you have, that could be more than 100GB. Mine is 21.1GB, and I only have Half-Life 1 & 2, and the two episodes, as well as a few mods installed. For someone with lots of steam games, this would be a major operation.

yes, with 91 games, it is hefty, especially since I also have a plethora of mods.
Reading this and some of people's other problems, it makes me think much, much less of Steam.
This happened to me as well a few times. Going to the game's page and clicking gift a game (adding to card & gifting now I guess - you don't really have an option to buy it again anyway) and then restarting Steam helped
edit: Friends don't work... Maybe they have server troubles. Just wait some time and I'm sure it'll ... fix itself :D
