Beta is available now on Desura for ten with extra goodies if bought before release.

No system requirements noted for this game as of yet. Some claim high memory usage but I think it is because they're attempting to run their own multiplayer server.

Anyone here have any experience with the game yet?
None. But if I had the money, I'd have been sold ages ago. Sharks with lasers? Check. Raptors in space? Check.

Yep, it's just plain awesome.
I didn't know about the game until now but it looks like a spacey version of Terraria, perhaps with less building. Nevertheless, looks interesting enough but I'll wait for 1.0 release at least, probably 1.1 like I did with Terraria.
Looks damn good.

Never heard of it.

It's a kickstarter that has been in the works for awhile now - Here's it's obligatory similar project by a different team http://playstarbound.com/
Ah well, hope it's worth it - it came down to this, Pid (which probably won't recognize my old processor anyway), the new Dungeon Lords or two six-dollar GOGs.

Now that rings a bell. I recall putting this in the KS list.

Starbound is what I thought Edge of Space was and I began squealing in glee.

Finding EoS near completion instead wasn't too much of a let down but it does feel like the opening band.

Fuck! Another total waste of cash!

Crash at startup - Unity engine - Most likely a SSE issue.

No specs for this game listed anywhere. =L
Seriously, as a fellow PC gamer, I HIGHLY MEGA SUPER ADVISE you to save for a stronger computer instead of trying to barely meet the minimum requirements.

This is what you should focus on since you're a GOG member and not the opposite: PC too cool for old games

To be fair, it does say it was made in Unity, and if your computer can't handle it, being a 2D Unity game, you should probably stay away from Unity in general until you get a better computer. :/

Sorry for the necro, but I was looking into this game because it sounded interesting and I was pretty irritated to discover it's become Steam only. It's basically been abandoned on Desura. Not only that, but they're claiming that the game doesn't use Steam's DRM, despite the game needing to be run through Steam.

Look at the exchange in the comments. They're also trying the old "DRM-free was only for backers" thing.
