drmlessgames: I really hope Activision crashes and burns really bad.
Yeah! And their over 5000 employees can all just get on unemployment or maybe Starbucks is hiring...

I know that we all have little axes to grind with one or two business decisions made here and there by a few execs at the top of various corporations... despite how truly limited our scope of understanding really is in terms of the inner workings and fiscal realities of those said companies...

But in a way, "I don't like video game X" translates into "I want lots and lots and lots of people, with families and house payments and medical bills and children, to get fired and have their lives ruined."

I don't really understand that. And I really don't think that is what people really mean when they express their anger at a video game company... And, it is a video game company, that makes video games. I know we love video games, but really, is there anything worth getting angry about?

Just sayin...

Captain baseball bat boy says hello and joins the fray.
As an oldschool gamer, i couldn't care less for the Acti/EA war with BF#/MW#.

Speaking of Epic I wonder when we'll see EPIC come here(or are they here already?)

Unreal Tournament games are here, so they already came.

As far as Epic doing an epic fail, just watch anything with CliffyB in it, the dude jumped the cool shark in favor of asshole a long time ago.
I would totally love to see them kill each other. I have close to a decade long hatred for EA, and Activision needs to be owned badly to be taught a lesson for their arrogance.

As the one gogger said above or on the page prior, less competition means worse titles for us and other bad things.

What?

Who do you think we are talking about?

Activision employs over 5000 employees (and I assume that is not counting out of house development and consultants). The number of employees who make you mad can fit in your living room. The rest of them are just like you. They are people who are just trying to make a living, pay their bills, raise a family. They do normal things, like accounting and clerical work, database management, web site maintenance, janitorial services, building security, etc... they don't make a helluva lot of money and they get 14 vacation days a year (except in Europe where they get better benefits and more vacation time than the average American worker).

I don't know what you think Activision does as a company, but they do not make poison children's food, like Monsanto, or windfall Viagra profits while saying 'fuck you' to AIDS victims, like Phizer, or destroy entire ecosystems, like BP. And they sure aren't Haliburton or Blackwater (or whatever name that "company" is hiding behind now). They make video games for the minority of people on Earth who are actually blessed enough to afford that kind of luxury. Whatever you think they did to draw your ire, its nothing compared to actual malice and malfeasance.

The general consensus is that the CEO of Activision is an asshole. Okay. I've met quite a few CEOs, most of them bigger and more important than Kotick. Most of them are assholes. That's how you get to be a CEO, it turns out.

I'm just saying that if you are gonna waste a lot of energy being livid at some lawsuits or business decisions made by an entertainment company, aim it at the top. If you think you are right, then maybe you should hope the CEO falls and some white knight rides in and makes the company better... ...rather than hoping a whole multinational company fails, taking all its wage slaves and middle class middle managers with it.

I know, you didn't originally say that, but you all act like Activision is a monolith, and its 5000 plus employees all sat in the same meeting room, drinking the same Kool-Aid, and conspired to screw you all over by doing whatever it is you think they did to you. It isn't like that... and just having a little perspective when wishing for the destruction of a whole company might be in order.
Honey Delixe might have meant the chairmen/execs. Simple mistake really.

An idea proven by the decreasing quality and variety of games as directly proportional to "growth"of companies like Activision and EA. They keep growing by absorbing all of the smaller, competitively creative companies, thus decreasing overall competition in the business.

Hah! Hell no! I hate them too, just that I hate EA most and Activision 2nd most. :D
