Delixe: Don't let common sense get in the way of EA bashing. Remember this came from the Steam forums populated with people angry they can't get EA games on Steam anymore. "Don't buy from EA cause they are diseased hurr..."
I didn't know about this EA virus urban legend.

Look, I for one am not bashing EA in any way. Obviously there is a holiday in the US, so sure I'm OK not being allowed to take part in this sale since I don't live in that country.

I just don't like their regional pricing schemes and titles availability, in Steam Origin or whatever store. Two examples: I can't buy Dragon Age Ultimate digitally as it's restricted everywhere, and I won't buy Medal of Honor 2010 until my price is the same as the US price.

I can say I like EA, even if they love the milking just like Activision does too. I can say I admire EA for such AAA games they release, and for developers that they partnered still leaving them somewhat independent which is the case for Crytek and DICE. I like both these companies' games and won't stop buying them just because they are only on Origin. I just want fair price, fair availability.

And fair DRM, if possible. ;)

Fujek: It's a sad combination of 'retail store legacy restrictions' infecting the digital distribution and the publisher's 'lazy' attitude.
Agreed.

Big publishers are just transfering their offline pratices to online, simple and lazy as that. If the digital copy is the same as everywhere else, why not make it available wordwilde and with a fair price for everybody? That would simply give you more sales. (instead of no sale at all, which has been the case for me not buying some EA games on Steam).

I know I know they're investing in their own Origin now, but that's for a different thread.

Contacts.
Why doesn't GOG release the expansions with their latest EA titles?
You can even see that GOG/CDPR can't escape the 'new games are bound to retail store regional contract' dilemma when you you watch TW2 (region specific prized on GOG and yes, they pulled a stunt to compensate and allow people to set their location, but guess how often they could do that if they sold a massive amount of new AAA titles).
There are a lot of people who want to earn on the computer game industry and while that's the case, we're always going to see a lot of restrictions through contacts.

Agreed, contacts, we can't forget there are humans in suits behind these publishers and distributors. In Brazil I'm tired of the greedy retail distributors.

Indeed even CDP had to partner with different publishers, make a little dance and some efforts to sell it at the same price in USD, EUR and others. That was pretty admirable, though.
Terrible sale unless you have an iPhone I guess.

I don't feel I'm missing out, what with the Steam sale and all.

Yeah I suppose the Steam DRM is no worse than the EA DRM. Someone said they had NV today for 15 bucks, that should keep anyone busy for a long time if they have not yet played it.

Well, $0.99 for each is acceptable. These seem nice to have:

SimCity Deluxe
Max and the Magic Marker
Risk
Monopoly. I have no idea how good Monopoly converts to mobile though.

Or Sim City for that matter. I doubt you can see people fishing leaves out of their pools in that version.

Ha you can't expect much really. That's why I don't buy BFBC2 mobile and the top franchise adpatations, because you know you'll get something 95% watered down.

I saw UNO for mobiles or DS, guess it's not by EA though.

Oh dear. I bet that wasn't pretty, in every sense. There's just so much shovelware on mobile platforms at the moment. I think it's going to be a long while before there's a sizeable chunk of the market that's taking them more seriously than to simply conclude - cash cow; let's milk it!

a long, indeed.

Well just look how many years the mobile's game craze has been going... 7, 8 years or more.
hehe, fail... "EA Biggest sale ever" seems so lame next to a regular steam summer sale :D

They also have the first two DLC for a similar discount for those that haven't picked them up. The discount here isn't good enough to get me to buy it again for the computer, but I'm somewhat tempted considering how I feel about Sony and the mods available for the PC version.

I'll have to remember this the next time I consider buying something for console that's available for PC.

All in all the sale kind of blows.

EDIT: That was steam obviously, the EA sale blows even more. I'm not sure it's reasonable to call that a big sale.

I paid the equivalent of 30 bucks for NV when it was new. I think I got Dead Money for 5 bucks on sale quite some time ago. Considering all the time I've spent on it I'm not crying about a heavily discounted deal 9-10 months down the road.

The mods are always big in Fallout games, and I would have gone PC in an instant if I could have avoided Steam.

I did think more about it, and for those that haven't bought the two DLC but were planning to, the discount drops the cost to barely any more than the cost of the two DLC.

And at any rate, I suppose I could sell the PS3 version.
