Aliasalpha: Lifetime subscriptions are for the life of the product, sadly APB lifers got exactly what was advertised...
True. But by any realistic standards, the game was stillborn.

That's the spirit! Just make sure you don't get too angry with them. You don't want to give them any reason to ignore you.

Well, MMOs are indeed a risk, but with the way APB was handled I doubt I will be taking risk with any other EA published MMO. This includes SW:TOR, yes it's made by Bioware but considering the investment required I am not convinced the risk is worth it if they are willing to pull stunts like this. Sadly there'll be too many people going "Oo Star Wars" to not make it profitable for them (just like it was with STO, release garbage and you are still assured a profit), but at least I won't be caught by it.

My plan with TOR is to wait for a trial to see how the game is, if I like it I'll get the game cheap from a good ebay shop after a month or 3 and then go by prepaid cards if I'm not bored with it by the end of the first period

Aye, I think with most MMOs now a trial is essential, since there have been so many lame ducks released lately.

the_voivod: It's too bad with TheCheese33, but I do have to say from what I've read EA have stepped up to the mark in more cases than not, so I do have to give them some props (for once).
How many others got a free game?

The thing is though that Realtime Worlds horribly mismanaged the game and spend way too much money and time on it. I doubt Bioware, an experienced developer, would make the same mistake.

TheCheese33: Who's ever heard of a refund system that punishes you for being an early customer. and not the other way around?
Well the point is that you had enough time to use your 50 hours of game time but someone who bought the game recently did not.

I doubt Bioware would make one game, ONE GAME with $100 million.
Ultimately, EA only handled publishing, advertising and distribution. The servers were all handled by Realtime Worlds. EA would have been perfectly legal if they didn't do anything, since as far as they are concerned, the discs still work, it's the game that's on them is the problem, and that's RTW;s territory. The fact that you're getting *something* out of EA should be received with thanks.
