amok: Do you really thing they need to put, in a quick forum post, something like this:

"Eador. Genesis will only be available through MotBW pre-order and it's the only way to have it in your Steam game library*. Unfortunately, nothing we can do about it.
I think it would have been much clearer and less misunderstandable if they would have posted something like:

"Eador Genesis will never be available as a separate product in the Steam shop. We cannot do this for some reason."

or

"Eador Genesis will only ever be available as a part of a bundle in the Steam library."

I don't know, I think it is nitpicking, and that the original post was quite understandable. The two you outline may also prove wrong in the future. (never say never, what if they do get separate entries at a point?)

bansama: Only on Steam will people bitch that others are now able to get a game. Talk about entitlement.
Only on GOG lying companies will be encouraged as long as the user gets to drive his agenda. Talk about go fuck yourself.

Eh bien, pensez-y.

pssst... that guy notoriously hates Steam and constantly shits on it in idiotic way like he showed in this thread. I'm starting to think he's not even doing it ironically.
Thanks for the notice! Just bought it :)
People should just stop preordering digital stuff...maybe these kind of pointless bonuses or dramas will disappear.

For the conumser that might seem good but for publishers and the game developers it's an early indication if a game is successful or not, they get numbers of amount of sales early which is important.

Personally, I agree. We should have more options to try games before we spend the cash, not ways to spend the cash before we even know much about games (and let's face it, anything known about a game before actually playing is trivial at best and useless at worst).

Protoss: But they said it will be only available on Steam via the pre-order, and it is not.
What SLP200 said, and I guess it comes down to perception.

The only way to have it in your Steam library is to pre-order; it doesn't really say it won't be available anywhere else.

"Only way to have it in your Steam library", not "Only way to have it" or "Only way to have it is on Steam".

Perhaps they could have worded it a bit more clearly, because it could be taken both ways. I initially agreed with you until I looked at it again. Maybe they should have said "not exclusive to Steam" or "It will be available elsewhere, but the only way to have it in your Steam library is to pre-order it."

Buy it from the bundle -> Activate the key on Steam -> You have the game in your Steam library

Not that I have a problem with their offer myself.

I don't think that's the point. I think people are angry because they feel like they were suckered into preordering the game rather than waiting for a sale, because as far as they understood, the only way to get Genesis was to preorder.

It's a bit like the Botanicula debacle where Amanita Design had the game up for preorder on GOG and GamersGate with certain bonuses, then on release day they included it in a Humble PWYW bundle with better bonuses than the preorders. Naturally people felt that the developer had taken advantage of them.

Then people are stupid. The only things Snowbird said was that you get Genesis for FREE if you preorder. And that they unfortunately can't sell it seperately on steam without Broken World.

No, that was their complete statement:
Eador. Genesis will only be available through MotBW pre-order and it's the only way to have it in your Steam game library. Unfortunately, nothing we can do about it.

Count me in for stupid, but i don't read this as a "if you want the game for free - than preorder" - i read this as a "if you want the game on steam - preorder is the only way".

I think the only digital game that I have pre-ordered was Witcher 2 here on GOG, because the pre-order offers were awesome and the game itself was amazing

If all online pre-orders were like that, I would pre-order much more games on Digital Distrubution services
