Well our government are dumping buckets of cash into the local economy in the hopes of stimulating it. The upside of it is that I, as a student, might be $950 better off sometime soon. Just think of the GOG games I could buy! I'm sure they'd have some educational value, I'm certain that the Oddworld games could be written off as a business education resource... Those Glukkons are savvy businessmen.

Ours are mostly pouring it into one company ("Hype Real Estate"). No idea why... they seem to think that this is a matter of national pride,,.

I am pretty sure that the economy back at home in Spain was in the shitter when I went back this past summer. All construction was completely stopped, there were no big purchases being made (houses, cars, etc...), people were not going out so much, the cafes and such were empty, and when I talked to my friend that works at a bank she was telling me they were repossessing shit from people at least once a week, and by shit I mean properties. I don't know if things have gotten better now, but things were looking grim over the summer.

Nah if there was any justice, it'd be the useless middle management types who don't really DO anything that'd get the chop

Some more tallented/experienced people might still find job in the industry but I doubt other developers/publishers have too many opening available. On the upside we might see many new indie devs pop up in coming years...

yeah, I am kind of sad, because it's probably only going to cling to drm and reusable ip up until death.
While they should be opening up any sort of back catalogue to GOG. :)

I hope they don't get scared off by these earnings numbers and delay their shift to a more well-rounded lineup.

It's sad, it seems their new focus on quality instead of quantity is not paying off. So soon they'll probably be back in Activision-mode and focus on mass market bullcrap.

We still have this big announcement thing to come, you never know it MIGHT be EA. Then again it might also be a coupon for a free home delivery of a scantily clad and 'totally on for it' kylie minogue, the odds are probably about the same...
