Aliasalpha: $60 games are awesome, its $110-120 games that are exploitative when an identical product is sold for half price for the rest of the planet

Miaghstir: Surely it's not identical, don't you aussies have censored blood and whatnot?
They have no M rating, so they have both censored violence and sex (sort of like getting an AO rating in the US, we have the rating, but no one will stock it so you won't be available to a very large audience, in their case, though, the game just can't be sold). There's one, particular douche who's been holding up all the proposals to add a M rating, mostly because he seems to adore actual censorship (he'd probably ban all video games if he could). He's old guard in their national politics and wields a lot of influence. I'm not sure how long he can resist the tide but he seems to have been successful so far.

Yes, I know. It was a tongue-in-cheek comment at everyone else getting an identical game for half the price, when in those cases the aussies do get the game its censored and costs twice the price of everywhere else.

Nah we have an M rating, in fact we have 2 which is the real problem

For all the publicity, virtually nothing is really censored. The main reason it pisses me off is that some hand wringing mary whitehouse diciple with delusions of relevance is getting to interfere with the work of an artist and that pisses me off to the point where I can't sit still and ignore it

Wasn't there some issue with Left 4 Dead 2 refusing to change its content or some such and it was considered outside the ratings? Maybe we're getting fed bogus news over here.
Did someone mention already that the old three-episode shareware games were almost $45 for the set of three episodes? And considering the first episode is free, that meant you were paying for two parts of a game that weighed in at about 4MB, most of it sprite and tilework.
