Aliasalpha: Wonder how long until jack thompson runs over to them claiming to have evidence of a vast conspiracy

Didn't Jack Thompson get De-barred?
Karl
I think/hope that most sane people have stopped taking these psycho Christians protesters seriously. They seem to protest everything from condoms to fluffy blankets and seabirds, so I've lost all hope for their intellect and ability of deduction.

Yes. It hasn't stopped his crusade though. He recently co-authored a bill in Utah, then insulted the entire state senate when they didn't fight the governor's veto of said bill.
"cheat codes won't save your soul"

He threatened to SUE the entire state government for denying his right to petition them (a right which he as to actually live in utah to claim). I suspect he's a man who buys tinfoil hats in bulk.

kiva: EA = Electronic Anti-Christ.

I was 100% behind them at this point... then I read the article.

lowyhong: I'm a Christian myself and I'm personally alright with the whole idea of having Hell in games, even if it's not biblically orthodox.

Bah, you lies! You can't be a Christian. Everyone knows Christians don't play video games, or hang out on forums or anything! They spend all their free time reading the bible, attending church functions, and trying to stuff their religion down everyone's throats!
:) I keed, sorry.
On the subject at hand:
Many Christians fail to realize something: It's a bloody VIDEO GAME. They are not made to be serious life-altering events. They are made to be played and enjoyed.
To an extent I can possibly understand the outcry against this specific game, depending on .. exactly how it's built. Based on what I know of Dante's Inferno, I could easily see this game being.. basically a strategic sim dealing with torturing the souls of the damned. *shrug*
... I think I will close with this horribly botched spelling:
Lasciate ogni sparenza voi ch'entrate
Abandon Hope, all you who enter here.
(Used to know the full inscription in Italian. Been a while.)
Thanks for telling me about this game, moronic protesters! Now I'll go get the game!
Seriously though, this is the greatest marketing stunt pulled off by anyone in the industry. Hats off to EA.

My brain melts. Again.
On completely unrelated note, now I want to watch Scooby-Doo again

I think you have all been conned, this protest is a complete fake.
Salvationists Against Virtual and Eternal Damnation have their own website:
http://wearesavedgroup.org/
Right at the bottom of the page is a direct link to EA's Dante's Inferno site, I am afraid to say that it appears to be a cheap and exploitative marketing campaign.

Which came after the senate president threatened to prosecute him under anti-spam laws for totally ignoring three requests to stop sending email.
Quite a good show, that one.

Hahaha. +1 EA. very nice.
This has been an educational experience.
As you all suspected, it was a pathetic viral ad all along. Then again, I've seen worse. Remember All I Want For Christmas Is a PSP?
Don't let anyone tell them about Diablo, they'll seriously freak the hell out. Oh, wait, that came out in the ninties, I guess they missed it.
I'm afriad people like this will always be around spoiling the impression of what Christains are really like, but fundimentalists ruin things for everyone. They're like Trolls really, if you ignore them, you win.
Weaksauce, as they say.
