orcishgamer: Okay, so you and I have that in common.

StingingVelvet: To be embarrassingly honest I mostly bought it because it came in a box. If it popped up on Steam exclusively for $15 I would have waited for a sale.

Do you think less of me?
I dunno, did the box have anything in it besides a disc?:)

Actually has a manual, which surprised me, and a weird postcard from the forgotten realms.

Ooh, can you scan the postcard? I'd like to see that.

I don't have a scanner... I could take a pic I guess.

Actually my wife is on vacation to see her parents and took the camera, so I don't have that either. It's not that special though, it's a guy killing some undead and it says "GREETINGS FROM _____'S TOMB! WISH YOU WERE HERE!" or something like that.

Cool enough. I keep ending up moving myself more than I want, makes me want less stuff. I'll probably doublecheck all my CDs are ripped and backed up and give them away (yeah yeah I know, not really in the spirit of things, but I'm not sending useful stuff to the landfill). I'm ditching a good portion of my daughter's children's books that she's outgrown. I'm seriously contemplating relieving myself of any DVD not on par with The Matrix or Lord of the Rings (thanks to Netflix I haven't pulled one off the shelf to watch in around a year or so).

Books, oh where do I start... I had two custom bookcases made by hand for my library in the last home I owned (how horribly that turned out... not the bookcases, the home ownership). I was planning on adding two more. Yes, I have that many. Honestly, I wish I had most of them on a Kindle, now, no, not all of them, just most. The graphic novels, of course, need to be physical until someone makes me a freaking 900 dpi color monitor.

I won't ditch old video games or consoles right now, I can't quite bring myself to do it, but a lot of this stuff has to go.

Ah, oh well.

We don't have kids so I have pretty much all the space I want really. Moving can be a hassle for sure but I figure we're gonna rent a truck anyway...

I do get the whole digital advantage though, don't get me wrong. When games I want are digital only I still buy them, I just prefer a box. Well... when they go cloud only I'm done, but that's a whole other debate.

Well, not everything digital is piled high with DRM, so let's hope games go that way too. Music and books are largely DRM free (and what DRM exists on books is way more ineffective than video game DRM ever thought of being).

Yeah, indeed. I love that I can go to amazon and buy an MP3 and own it forever with no hassles. I wish games were like that more often. I still buy whole albums on CD, but when I only want a track or two MP3 is great.

Wish I would have taken more notice of this thread - Just picked up DD as it was only $15.00 and I already own all the GOGs on sale this week. Well I get it home and start reading the Manual - Activation only via Steam - What the heck is that. I now have a $15.00 Coaster sitting in a kind of cool box on my shelf.

It has the Steam logo on the back of the box like most Steamworks games.

Didn't really pay attention - Guess I will from now on.

I got tricked like that with SiN Chronicles, bought it from gogamer.com, no description about the Steam requirement at the time, it is also a coaster.
