GameRager: As for attacking, from what I read it seemed you would have rather pressed a hotkey over and over on your keyboard than hit the left mouse button over and over and this seemed nonsensical somewhat to me is all. If you meant one button press per attack then I revise my statement.....what is the difference between hitting a keyboard key ONCE to attack(and keep attacking) vs hitting the left mouse button to constantly attack an enemy?
avatar
orcishgamer: Triggering an auto attack with a mouse vs. a keyboard is functionally equivalent (in all but the most insane cases). Clicking once per attack on a mouse button or keyboard is annoying in nearly all cases, full stop. We ditched that pre 2000 for a reason.
I agree. It just seemed you were saying pressing a keyboard key was easier and less frustrating somehow than hitting a mouse button(once in both cases). Apologies if I mistook what you said.

BTW are you gonna buy it when it comes out or sometime after or no?

GameRager: Why should a torch be optional? (You mean a constant torch or using torches to light ones way via carrying them?)
I mean torch that gets burned out after a few minutes, and then you have to look for new torches. Otherwise, you will have to walk in the dark. I think there was this old game (I forget which game) that can become unwinnable when you run out of torches. Now that is just nasty IMHO.

Make the game playable without torches but easier to get through some darker areas with torches and it'd be fine. Or are your light sources management skills so poorly lacking? :)

But in all seriousness as long as every area isn't pitch black to where you can't see without light and light sources you can carry are plentiful enough to not be too scarce then it might add a bit of challenge to the game. Can't have it be too easy right? :}

That could be it. After all I found it very hard to find xyem's hidden codes on the picture the other day :-)

Well, in the game I mentioned above, you basically lost once you run out of torches, 'cause you really can't find your way in the dark. I agree though that as long as the game provides enough torches easily found, it will probably not be too much of a problem.

Dat sound when they extinguish....shsssssshs. And then dat GRUE. 0.o

Also is it just me or does the style of game and graphics give off that Arx Fatalis vibe to anyone else?

Well, it's more like a darker version of Eye of Beholder to me.

Oh and I especially like that there will be a choice of Minotaur as playable character (I still have not played M&M VIII yet, so I have never played Minotaur at all).

It doesn't strike me as a must have, personally speaking, if it comes up in an indie bundle I'd consider it a plus for the bundle, but the amount of games I have to play currently is pretty insane. I'll still buy stuff on discounts but I'm avoiding buying anything for full price (Arkham City was my last full priced video game, back in October, that I simply had to play immediately, and pay full price for, of course I paid full for Space Marine and Catherine and still haven't managed to even crack the shrink wrap).

Aw c'mon....one more game couldn't hurt, now could it? ;)

:D

Also didn't play but AC/AA FTW.

If the game ever came out PWIW or the like i'd buy like 4 copies and hand em out like water to everyone. If that happens i'll remember you at any rate.

Arteveld: When GOG announced they're interested in publishing newer titles, it's games like this i'm hoping to see here. *fingers crossed*
I'm pretty sure they said that they weren't doing Indies any time soon though...

Yeah, i know. That's why i keep 'em crossed, as other digital distributors are out of question for me. When GOG mentioned 'newer' titles, retro'ish indies were the first thing that came to my mind.

But they also said they won't be releasing any day one games, only 1-3 old, and lately is was said there will be exclusive day one title this year.

I'd assumed that that was the 'CD Projekt' grey area though - like the Witcher 2
I'd be suprised if there were any non CD Projekt day one games
Saying that though, the other day it occured to me if anyone is ever going to get any ledendary, never released, 'Dev hell' games like Sensible Software's 'Drugs Sex and Rock and Roll' finished and released it could be GOG - wouldn't THAT be something!

CDProject doesn't have any plans to release a nwe game in 2012.

I think this may be ARMA 3 or something from Larian Studios.
