You could try Evil Genius. Startopia is my own favourite of that type of building game.

I had it back during its original release.....I really didn't like it all that much.

But this NZ store ships overseas and sells it for $15.25 USD equivalent.

Dungeon Keeper 2 is the easy one to get. I've seen it in several places for $5 a copy. The original I've had a hard time finding for less than $80 or so. And no copies at all under $30.

Evil Genius is a really good game and I'd recommend it to those that liked Dungeon Keeper, but it is quirky and getting it to run right can be a challenge.

He probably means the first one. The second one is more readily available everywhere, but the first... forgetaboutit.

I got severely ninja'd

Wouldn't the second game have been an expanded on and upgraded port of the first? Kind odd that the first, which I would assume would have less substance, would sell for so much.

It's an issue of the original game being that good, and the pricing tends to be scarcity driven. Given what they're going for, I'm mostly surprised that nobody has thought to rerelease it in some fashion, either here or on Steam.

Now try to comparison Fallout and Fallout 2.
I have a bit of hope for a fan-made DK clone, War for the Overworld.

It's in a rather early stage at the moment, and progress has been slow, but it does potentially look good. Won't be an exact copy though.

I'll have to keep tabs on that. If it turns out like Widelands or OpenTTD, I'd be pleasantly surprised, but at this point it's hard to say. Sometimes it works out as in the case of the games I mentioned.

I've played the first two hours of Fallout, never touched Fallout 2 but i have the Fallout Collection sitting on my shelf to eventually get to one day.

I see. But let's say the first game sold out, never to be re-released, and the second game is available for peanuts. Both games made a big impact, and low availability of one would naturally push the price up. This doesn't take into account that some people feel the first game is the better, or vice versa. It's kinda like DK 1 and 2.
