Yes, those are some of the games I always think "Why aren't these on GOG already"
The others being the old (A)D&D games, Lucasarts games, and Microprose games (since this is a demanding thread...where's my X-COM and older Civs, Gog!!)

I toast to you all who want good old games to come here that, unfortunately, will probably never come due to rights' issues. *holds up water bottle*
Yesterday I re-played Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, an excellent, very fun game. It's relatively short, but very awesome, even for being ~15 years old. Unfortunately, given how much crazy legal hoopla GOG would have to go through to bring these here, it's not going to happen. (You've got boarding companies, record companies, skateboarder names, all kinds of logos, etc. etc. blah blah blah)

I wouldn't jump to the conclusion he was an asshole simply because he told Iron Maiden to get lost when they wanted to name a song, "Dune". Maybe he had a good reason. Maybe Iron Maiden offered him nothing in return. Frank Herbert spent his entire life on the Dune universe after all. It would be very unfair to Frank for other people to use his material to become more famous, more respected, more rich, without offering him, something valuable in return.

tinyE: Frank Herbert is an asshole. Well he was.
I blame him. He told Iron Maiden to get lost when that asked to name a song "Dune" do you really think him or his estate is gonna let the games go low priced and DRM free!?

tinyE: No, I looked it up. He refused because they were a metal band, and he was quite vocal about that. Post edited July 31, 2013 by langurmonkey

junker154: I really miss games set in the Dune universe. It offers so much potential especially in the RTS genre, I played Emperor Battle for Dune to death when I was a child, it had some really amazing concepts and units.
A new Dune RTS would be really great, not just a remake. With a good singleplayer campaign, like in Emperor. The campaign was quite brilliant, more dynamic and interactive instead of a list of missions that you have to play through. Also the fact that you could choose which allies you wanted was neat and how the different factions affected eachother.
Dune is really forgotten these days.
Unfortunately Dune is really forgotten these days. And I don't know why? Have people's tastes become so bad, the Dune universe is no longer appealing in their eyes?A new Dune RTS would be really great, not just a remake. With a good singleplayer campaign, like in Emperor. I always liked the intricate politics in Dune and the otherworldy setting. Dune has not been in the medias nearly a decade, so it's kind of forgotten.

Narakir: You know Blind Guardian actually made a song about Dune do you ? Guess you've to be a more suitable band than Maiden for that. *Waves the troll flag to start another heavy metal argument :p* Thespian

So many good memories (I love the Dune universe). Dune 2 was THE game which got me hooked to the RTS genre for ever. And what to say of the artwork and the inmersion of the first Dune, by Cryo Interactive? (aww, those magical dawns and sunsets, that great OST...) The way they portrayed Chani was the reason I always name my RPG female characters after her. ;)
And Emperor: Battle for Dune was a worthy game by itself, too. :)
The other two games related to the franchise I know are Dune 2000 and Frank Herbert's Dune, but I hadn't the chance to play them at the time. :(
