I installed Dune 2000 for the very first time (I know, I know) after finding a high resolution patch. And it's freaking awesome. I haven't had so much fun wirth RTS game for a looong time.

And from what I've seen it's pretty much the same as Dune 2 but with selection box, unit groups, left click for attack etc etc. The only disadvantage is there is no building / training queue, but the game is balanced for this system, so...

I wish there were some NEW rts games that would capture the spirit of Dune / C&C / TA games perfectly.

Harkonnen, out.
Emperor is even better .

That's the word. The second I can snag it for a reasonable price it's all mine.

Maybe, but I need to finish Dune 2000 now. I love how the graphics look in 1024x768.

Yeah, Dune 2000 is really nice. I remember playing the shit out of it before starcraft arrived.

Hey, how did you get the res so high? I don't remember Dune 2000 even having a resolution option.

There is a resolution patch avaible made by fans. You may choose any resolution you like, but above 1024x768 game may crash on small maps.

make sure to install over 1.06 version of the game with missions folder copied from the CD

I never played Dune2000 before because of the low resolution, but now it's not a problem at all. 1024x768 is gorgeous

Thanks man, might give it another spin with good old house harkonnen :)
Objectively speaking Emperor: Battle for Dune is a better game but Dune 2000 will always have a special place in my heart. I spent many hours playing it and it was great. I even played it with my friends (LAN) and I rarely use multiplayer. My biggest complain: the last mission should be actually the easiest because by the time you get there you control 95% of Dune and spice production. There is no way anybody can stop you. Emperor, however, managed to deliver very good reason why the last mission was so hard.

Keeveek, if that's your base on this screenshot then you designed it terribly ;)

PS THE SPICE MUST FLAW
+1 for that XD

Does Emperor have awesome FMV? If not, then it SUCKS :P XD

Oh, I've used to play that game so much. It felt a bit too clunky when I got spoiled with Emperor tho (you could control worms! How awesome is that!)

Anyway, want an RTS that kinda plays the same, try the new Red Alert games - CnC 3 was a bit too slow-paced for my liking, but RA3 is quite awesome. It's just a shame that the SP was designed with coop in mind, could have been much better without it.
Usul, we have wormsign the likes of which even God has never seen
Some of the best game music ever in that one, as well as the great gameplay. I'd love to see it here, or indeed just about any Dune title.

I appear to be in the minority with House selection, as I prefer to play as House Atreides. Though in the Avalon Hill version of Dune, I always chose The Guild.
Hmmm I remember trying Emperor several years ago and I think it ran at unplayable speeds or something...
Anyhoo, GOG should get all the Dune games. (yes even that action-adventure/stealth one)
