jefequeso: Sam, for sure. I've never seen Duke as anything other than an unlikable asshole. He's self-absorbed, he quotes action movies, and he's obsessed with tits. I guess that's all supposed to be endearing? I never got it. I even like Caleb and Lo Wang, it's just Duke that's always irritated me. I guess Sam is kind of the same sort of character, but for some reason I find him a lot more likable. His bravado always seemed more gleeful and less grating.

tinyE: This isn't character related so maybe it doesn't belong in here, but Sam's environments are SOOOO BOOOORING! Its the same stupid thing after another. Duke goes into the red light district, he goes to space, he hits a Japenese restaurant, he even goes to the White House (in an expansion). Plus Duke always takes time out to offer a few bucks to the strippers. God bless Duke!

jefequeso: Are you implying that Duke's environments weren't drab and repetitive?
Compared to Sam, that is exactly what I'm saying. Granted not all of them were wonderful, but Duke had stores, dumpsters, motel rooms, pools, nudie booths, prisons, museums, military bases, bathrooms, bars. Duke had little touches like drinking fountains, garbage cans, that pool table, bottles, strippers, televisions, electric outlets, telephones, bill boards, trash. Ultimatly those little things don't affect play but they make the environment as a whole a lot more fun to run around in.

SovietSharkey: Sam
DNF changed my opinion with Hive level and the shit Duke says in it but even still Sam has awesome lines
Oh yeah, DNF ruined everything.
Lara Croft :)
None of them (:P), but if I have to choose, that would be Serious Sam, because, at least, he can be funny in a non-vulgar way, and still be a badass facing and killing aliens... (:P)
Duke Nukem, no puns required.
I like both, but now a days I'd have to say Sam slightly more.

Duke Nukem Forever was a disappointment. I realize nothing in development that long could have lived up to the hype, but it was still meh. Serious Sam 3 BFE was good.
Serious Sam is too over the top. Duke is almost believable as a viable character, almost, which is how I like my satire.
Old Duke > Sam > New Duke

Back in the day, Duke was a great character. Sam was a good parody of that character. Then DNF came out, and Duke had become a bad parody of himself.

XD Both Duke and Sam bring a lot of things to mind, but the term 'believable' in whatever degree, is not one of them.

Gordon Freeman obviously.

Either him or Strelok.

If you read my post you will see I said believable as a viable characters, as in less in-your-face absurdity and satire.

I know, I was being sarcastic. When I typed that post I was afraid that it was going to come off wrong and it did and I am sorry for that. I didn't mean anything by it.
Hail to the King baby!

Failing That Duke Wins out because being Sam Games get a bit annoying being overrun by enemies over and over again especially those bulls

i am aware that painkiller has large mobs but never felt as annoying as Serious Sam as sam's sometime take too long to kill them all, i am yet to play the 3rd but 2 was underwhelming

Serious Sam is only advisable for multi-player imho.

There are moments, where I uninstall Duke 3d because of those cocoons and the cheap monster hordes. On the other hand, it's also rich with humanism. The devs put in their personal opinions of the government, mail services and drug jokes. The boss finishes are good, the environments ridiculous. Occasionally the lines fit great.
