Since the only two topics we have at the moment are for demo talk & B.O.S. preorder talk, and anything else in them would oe offtopic, I decided to make this thread for all generic DNF related talk. So go on, tell me what your thought are on DNF.....how long have you followed it? What were your most remembered moments along the path of it's creation(and recreation on various engines), and temporary death & then rebirth?

Do you find any good DNF webcomics you ant to show off, or people advertising the game in unusual ways in your area or country? Any local news on the game? Tell us.

(I will update this post with days remaining as well to avoid the other two threads......)

OMG IT'S OUT!!!

===================================
Lastly things this thread is NOT for:
+Anything that should go into the other two threads, like demo impressions and reviews.
+Anything TOO offtopic...a comment or two is fine, but not whole pages.
+Outright bashing the game or it's players as "console kiddies/mainstreamers/etc".....civil criticism is ok though.

Come Get Some

The game mechanics are dumbed down from the original (and that's a hell of a feat), the satire and comedy is done better elsewhere, to me it is seriously being overshadowed by Serious Sam 3: BFE.

But it'll sell an unimaginable number of copies because appealing to the lowest common denominator wins. See: Avatar.
Personally, I'd like to give Gamestop a whopping middle finger for pressuring the publisher to wait a few days so that they can get it in on their preferred day.

Its also a vaporware meme become reality so I suspect it'll garner a lot of curiosity sales. Its about the only reason I'm even remotely interested in it

The Mechnaics in the original DUke Nukem 3d were fine. But I am concerned about the simplification of the controls to pander to the Consul players. The Two Weapons at a time limit is the deal breaker for me. A Duke without a arsenal of weapons to use Is not the Duke I know and love.
I agree that a lot of the DUke fans are going overboard with their ravings about How Great THis Game Will Be, but dissing Duke fans in general as the LCD is a bit much.
Particularly coming from a fan of another FPS franchise,The Serious Sam franchise.
Because I don;t like a lot of changes to the game I have read about, I am looking forward ot "Alice:Madness Returns" a lot more then DNF.But I not going to name call people who have taste different then mine, although I will slap them if they say stupid crap, as fanboys are wont to do.

I'm not talking about the Duke Nukem fans. As far as I'm concerned, this game isn't even aimed at the original fans. This is Grindhouse compared to original grindhouse.

Duke3D was also marketed to the lowest common denominator.

Yes, in terms of characters and story, but in game design they put in a lot of cool shit that I don't remember seeing in Doom or any other FPS at the time, that actually influenced others. They don't have that here, so all they're relying on is the one liners and shitty not-quite-porn-so-why-don't-I'just-find-something-better-online-edness, which is pretty damn sad when you compare it to the revival that Lara Croft is going through.

Some like the "porn", and not for the obvious reasons...some people like dirty jokes, even grown-ups, and it's not always fap material if put in a game.....some people just like to oggle and imagine or laugh at it.

Pre-load has begun :D
Oh the achievements are there now to, so spoilers ahoy.

Kill things in many ways, stomp on things, ooooh a fork lift, there are actually steroids and not just beer, eat food, look at all calendar pages, win at air hockey, get so many points at pinball, use a hologram, white-bored doodles, ego cap rewards, complete game on <insert difficulty>, find all bucket helmets, listen to all phone call messages, keep hold of the golden pistol (oh the joys of 2 weapon limit and this one), drink all strip club beer, shoot blimp, underwater level, a talk show, a game of alien abortion, a secret closet to unlock, six bosses. And all the achievements have sufficiently funny names.

edit: spoiler tags, I forget how they work.

Doom was released more than two years earlier so it's understandable that Duke had more features. I think that Duke3D was one of the most overrated games in history. The best thing about it is the theme song (which is actually great).

Yeah, everyone who likes things you don't is an idiot. Way to be rational.

Play nice now. This thread is about getting along, and tolerating everyone else's opinion(though yes he did act a bit over the top.)
