Aningan: So I hear DNF Xbox 360 and PS3 versions have been available on torrents for a couple of days, while the PC version awaits release. I'm starting to agree with the publishers, PC piracy is a problem.... it's moving to slow :))

lukipela: I am not sure how people are playing it on the PS3 though, as far as I know, you cant use a pirated game on a PS3 with the latest update, and to play any of the newer games, you have to have the latest update.

I wish i did know, games are expensive :(
DA2 was playable and it required 3.60 firmware (latest firmware at the time, don't know which is the latest now, haven't used my PS3 in the last couple of months). It was playable on jailbroken PS3 with 3.41 or 3.55. I think the EBOOT needed to be changed and some .pkg be run. Something like that. I don't know exactly.

If it works the same than PSP there are patch/tools that fake higher firmware version
I now know how it feels to be a Euro customer most of the time. Game comes out tomorrow for you guys and the 14th here. Next time a Euro screams about it I will mock them less.

I'll still mock them, 'cause why not, but I will mock them less.
1 day...

one day left for make or break. No pressure on Gearbox. =p

Man even Brazil gets it tomorrow? Fucking A...

Now, does it feels nice being on the other side of the pond? No.

US always gets things first, but not this time, which is very odd for a game which's protagonist is american, with a flag in the game's logo and all that.

That's why something like "No Oceans: Call For Worldwide Release Dates" is nice, people should support.

Then next, is the much much harder battle, regional pricing.

StingingVelvet: (snip)
Yeah, I still am shocked that NA is getting DNF later than Europe...

I might not get my BoS box as it got sent out tomorrow and as with any "next day delivery" deals I will probably get it next week :/. I will be awaiting it though nevertheless - been waiting for 14 year so couple of days might not kill me ;)

@taczillabr: Yeah, pricing games online 1:1 from USD to GBP for example is pants...

Well they will get the new Batman, Deus Ex and tons of other first, the only thing we get first is DNF... not sure we really win that much here. (Also it might be a chance for US gamers, depending of the EU gamers feedback it will give them enough time to cancel their pre-order if needed)

I'll tell you what is pants:

2K Games is only distributing the PS3 and 360 versions of DNF in Brazil, no PC.

Why? Well PC games cost an equivalent to $60 to $65 here, while consoles titles they retail at $120 to $130. Pretty honest, isn't it?

I'm fine with wanting it, I just know the reasons behind it and it isn't a simple change.

Regional pricing is a good thing. What you are talking about is unfair or improper regional pricing, which is a bad thing.
I have no idea why they're staggering release for DNF of all games. Surely all the negative press DNF will get from the 10th to the 14th will convince a lot of people to cancel their preorders.
I'll just leave this here: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/748-Duke-Nukem-Forever

I know I know wordwide releases aren't that easy, there's all the logistics about it and there's always have that one retailer that skips the date and starts selling it earlier, etc.

Yeah you got the idea about pricing, just read what prices I've posted above for DNF.

Even the cinema industry isn't fair, and games being a much newer thing is pretty hard to expect we will have this balance, equality between countries so damn quickly. That, doesn't mean we should stop fighting for this sort of equality.

Hahaha... though I enjoyed the demo, this is true.

It's got absolutely nothing to do with equality, but rather economics. You pay as much as the game is worth to you, and it makes perfect sense. We aren't going to start pricing our games at 1 dollar each so that all the Indians / Chinese can afford them. Have a look at Ramsey's price theory.
