Aningan: I'm actually a bit tired of that excuse. While it may work for some RPGs cause of the longevity, the replay value, it does not work for a linear FPS which has a 8-10 hour single player. It's been released 4 days ago, 2 of those were Saturday/Sunday. So plenty of time for most people to finish it even a couple of times and post their opinions, good or bad. So I call BS on "those who like the game are currently off playing it."

-----------------------------------------------------

Plenty. Considering YOU haven't played it and yet think it's perfectly acceptable for you to post your so called opinions every second post on this topic, don't you think it's a bit hypocritical for you to ask that question. While some may not have played it and are in the same situation as you, there are plenty who have played the game and, unlike you, actually have a leg to stay on when bashing or defending the game.
Some people can play a game over and over again for up to a week when games come out....also many who liked it don't feel the need to post as much than those with criticisms...of course that's how it is for alot of things. The loudest voices tend to be the ones with complaints.

I was just asking a question.....no need to be rude. And I like the series. So I post alot about it. Is that a crime? To like something alot? Lock me up then. :\

Thing is most here aren't just criticising but bashing the game over and over again ad nauseum. What if you made a thread about your favorite game and I came ine and kept posting over and over again about how I thought it sucked and that you were a fanboy? Would you like it?

I bought it. I'm not sure why. I think I just need closure.
How about this, I know this as a fact a bunch of people are gonna enjoy it maybe someone who hasn't played a duke nukem game before (I haven't) or maybe who hasn't played a truely modern and awesome shooter.

So no fanboy rage please,(not saying if anyone raged just saying no fanboyism needed) everyones entitled to their opinion,
I personally think, of what i played its well good, lacking in some areas but still its a good game. Not great but not bad as some people say, Of course people are gonna be disappointed by the game because of the high expections.
Least we can do is thank Gearbox for helping release Duke Nukem Forever

Moral of my post: Don't hold high expections for games that had a bad history.

What did you pay? Get a good deal?
I agree with this - CLICK

You can go round in circles here over and over again.

Ah also, anyone remembers God Hand on PS2 and some of the reviews it got on the ground of how overhyped it was yet lots of people enjoyed it. More than you would expect.

Extremely high, It's a wonder that Gearbox even tryed to make the game run and well be playable.

I hold average expectations.......I will fully judge and cast my hate or love for it afterwards though, and not before like many seem to be doing across the net. Yes some here have valid points and have played, it's not them i'm talking about....but those who don't "get" the series or who just want to hate on it in general or cast judgement without playing I take offense to.

(Offtopic but I had -26 rep and now -21...wtf? Maybe staff is correcting my rep?)

For one thing it's a linear FPS. Yeah there are extremes, so a select few will play it a lot. But those are a minority and you're trying to imply that the majority is playing now and enjoying it. There's only so many times a normal person can replay something so linear in successive play sessions.
And 2, this is GOG. People come here and talk about games everyday, doesn't matter if it's a release of some known of unknown game. I didn't see a drop of activity on the forums because Duke Nukem was released.

And the one who is rude is you. Trying to dismiss people's comments implying some did not play the game, while knowing full well you are the one in that situation.

But my favorite game would not be a game I haven't even played yet. And for example plenty of people criticize AC1 and I absolutely loved it. Doesn't make me want to respond to every negative comment about AC1. Hell, if I ever suggest that game to someone I make sure to include the critics so the person can make an informed decision.
Yeah it had plenty of faults.
Does that make me like it less?
Nope.
People criticize it.
Does that make me like it less?
Nope.
People criticize it.
Does that make me try and reply to every single comment in a desperate need to defend it and turn a blind eye to the obvious faults?
Nope.

I meant that people playing may be one of the reasons no one is hardly defending it, not the main or only one. Also as I said normally mostly those who have complaints about something get vocal about it...that's just how the world works, the most vocal are usually those on either extreme of the spectrum, and most who really like it probably don't want to bother arguing about it right now.

Also many goggers aren't into newer games...so why would they be playing for the most part?

I never meant to dismiss all comments....did you read the bit where I said I didn't and was only taking issue with those dissing the game for unfair reasons and not those with good/fair criticisms? Or do you just hunt and peck my replies for stuff to call me on?

I read about 14 of the 20 pages. Skipped the middle ones. I hope you don't expect everyone to read every single post before replying.

And what you mean and what comes out a lot of times are quite different. You really should read your comments before posting and not just proof-read them, but read them from the perspective of the one you are trying to reach. It's not important what you get out of it, you already know what you want to say, it's important what other people get out of it so post with that in mind. Just a suggestion. And I hardly need to "hunt" with the way you post.

Yes maybe I should read them a bit better before replying but what about people making fuck all assumptions?

Depends what you mean. If you mean making assumptions about what you post, if your posts did not convey what you were trying to say properly and they had to make assumptions then it's mostly your fault. Especially with your reputation here I'd make sure I was clear when I post if I were you. Just saying.

If you mean making assumptions about the game, that is bad. But that is also what you are doing. So I wouldn't be quick to call others on it.

I'm not making assumptions, as I said the game may have flaws. I am just reserving judgement for the future while remaining more optimistic than pessimistic as is my nature.

You can go round in circles here over and over again.
There were seven comments posted in that article. Four of them were fine (if mostly banal), but three are just strawman excuses to shut down discussion:
I am sick and tired of shooters being nailed as bad games for being too different than Call of Duty or any generic war first person shooters.
Not every game needs to be made into some highly critically praised blockbuster.
Just because you can't handle shock humor does not make it not funny.
Seriously. If the guy decides to cherry-pick some positive comments to present that side of the argument, that's fine, but apparently, he actually considers this fanboy flailing to be worthy of consideration.
Content-wise: This isn't the Duke Nuke'em of Duke 3D that actually had humor in the form of innuendo and one liners. Duke Forever is basically the kind of 'humor'/shock value that makes sixth graders chuckle. It's just flat out moronic.

Gameplay-wise: Crap. It's hilarious people are saying it is 'better on PC' because it is so painfully obvious that it is an FPS designed for consoles. I've already railed off the litany of reasons and for the life of me I can't figure out how users on the Good Old Games forums would love the shit that passes for games today. But, a lot of you do... go figure. Some of you wonder why they don't make them like they used to... it's because you shell out $50 for crap like this.

Just because the article doesn't hold up to your standards of discourse doesn't mean you have to shoot it down just for the sake of shooting it down.

Also as I said others who did like the game and could critique it in a more civil and intellectual way don't feel like bothering for the most part, so mostly the only good comments are as you see in the article.

What one may find shit others may like. Opinions, even mine, are subjective. Also the games sell because some like them.....don't like it? Fund your own game or do something to change it.

Also by better on PC they mean resolution wise....not gameplay wise.
