Uh, it's not that bad? I haven't got that far yet, but I didn't see anything overly preposterous in that segment?

They get kidnapped, raped and impregnated. Then they apologize for getting fat (because they're pregnant, because they got raped). Then they die.

That's bad.

The concept of it is pretty grim - yes I agree.
However, the way it was implemented wasn't THAT terrible.
In fact, it tried to come off as humorous, but ended up being a failed joke.
There are many games in which you yourself can do things that are morally very questionable, however they don't get the kind of flak that DNF seems to be getting right now. I only played the game for a bit and I don't think it's a great game by any standard, but I don't think it deserve the kind of ripping that it is getting right now. Seems like people are simply picking on whatever they can to hate the game.
That in itself is fine, but I wish that they'd rather do it to games that are more deserving of such scrutiny.

The thing is, in context, it REALLY can't decide if it wants to be grim or not. There are jokes in between women ALSO yelling "I want my daddy", "oh god oh god" and just plain crying, and not in a joking or comedic way... the actresses are playing those lines perfectly straight. And the jokes aren't even really jokes... there's no punchline or wit to them. I mean, "who gave me a roofie" or "I'm too young to be pregnant" are delivered like jokes, but the joke seems to be "haha, these women got raped" which isn't particularly funny.

When you combine that with the Holsom twins scene, it begins to feel less like someone's trying to be edgy, and more like Broussard has some issues he needs to work out. The thing is, the game really is terrible as a game. The quality is REALLY variable (from godawful to mediocre), except the writing which is uniformly awful. And the hive stage really is creepy as all hell, and not in a good way.

The game is getting flak because it's a pure bargain bin piece of shovelware, but it's getting promoted like a AAA title. And it really, really isn't.

That really wasn't as bad as people said. Honestly I was more disturbed by the horrible level design.

No...no....why? I just saw PC Gamer gave the game a 80/100. What were they smoking?

There seem to be people that are really into the game.

The problem is there's no attempt at humor -- it's just put in there to be vulgar/for shock value and that's supposed to pass as the 'humor.' Not offended... in fact... I almost have pity on the developer that put that in the game. It's sad, honestly.

On a gaming database I frequent (czech one, databaze-her.cz) there are 17 user scores so far, and the average? 76. I personally finished the game and gave it 6. I do not get offended by anything ever (different thing is whether I find something funny or not..but get offended? Why ? If anything, I love politically incorrect stuff that gets people crazy) though.
The game is quite fun on PC, and utterly dire on consoles.

BTW that "super offensive" segment lasts like 10 seconds...out of 9 hours long game. I forgot about it 10 seconds after...

rofl..all i have to say about the vid. and I love the game fun as hell but what ever , everyone can have fun with there haloz thingy and duty calls or what ever wait the real one is call of duty lol, but i liked it and i=like all new games it will be patched and fixed up

Okay, first this is barely English, and second Duke Nukem Forever is pretty much a carbon copy of the gameplay style of Halo and Call of Duty only worse and somehow slower.

I never understood why some people try to defend DNF by saying "why don't you play Halo then?" because I don't want Halo, I want Duke Nukem, and part of the reason the game pisses me off is because it plays like a bad Halo clone!

Paid off, look at meta critic and what the rest of the industry is giving the game.
