GameRager: Maybe because people who love Duke or are new to the whole series wanna be able to make map packs and stuff for it like they did with DN3D?
The editor has not yet been confirmed though. I'd LOVE to have a map editor - it was one of the things that made Duke 3D so popular after all - but how realistic is it?
I wouldn't raise your hopes, though. The industry these days is completely blind to what people want. Most publisher still don't get that a proper editor set

a) increases the life span of your game dramatically, keeping it fresh leading to better sales of the sequel

b) makes people be more forgiving of mistakes in the game since they can be tweaked out with the editor

c) leads to much better sales because either (a) people love making new content or (b) people love downloading custom content (c) basically is better value for money

And yet how many editors do we still get on PC? More proof that consoles have been crapping in our yard for years now. *goes to get a big ass newspaper to smack the bad consoles on the head*

GameRager: Yes, but considering that the content is mostly that from the previous developer/etc, i'm figuring they probably included the editor in the game package for old school fans to pour over...and as such i'm also hoping Take Two/etc leave it in if there is one.
If only it were that simple ... in reality, the tools used to make a game are mostly unsuitable and user-unfriendly not to mention buggy, quirky and may even have protected content. Most devs have to severely clean up their tools before they release them so it might be a costly thing to do.
I don't know if anyone else have noticed, but it looks like we finally have a date on when the DNF demo will be released.

Norwegian webshop Komplett is running a promotion for those who preorder Duke Nukem Forever, where they promise a special code that will grant access to the game demo a month before the game is released. So I guess that is the same time the members of First Access Club will also get their hands on it.

So it looks like Duke is gonna make you his bitch in May after all. 10th of May to be precise.

Put that on your calendar and smoke it.

GameRager: Considering all the free publicity that community modding brings to a game series and it's publishers it's probably a likely bet....for PC versions anyways. Since most DN3D fans were also into the modding scene i'm betting more are buying the pc version in hopes of getting their hooks into any possible modding tools as well as avoiding any consolitis or dumbing down the console versions might possess(one being lower res. graphics prolly)
Only Bethesda have shown they understand the goodwill they recieve from bundling modding tools (good ones). There are over 9000 mods for Oblivion and Fallout 3/NV and yet they also enjoy excellent sales of DLC.

However most publishers seem to think modtools that allow people to make free weapons/armor etc can hurt DLC sales. Especially when the publisher wants to sell weapons/armor ala Mass Effect 2. We aren't getting mod tools for Dragon Age 2 and for that reason it's going to remain a broken mess but you can bet EA will have lots of alternate appearance packs for you to buy with Bioware (tm) points.

Never assume we will get modtools. Publishers hate them.

I bet if Bethesda switched engines for real to an entirely new architecture and they had to actually develop new mod tools they would stop and think about it. I think those tools are included on every one of their games since Morrowind because it is very easy for them to do so.

The vast majority of sales come from consoles, which do not have mods. Probably half of PC gamers don't really use mods much if at all. Then you have to wonder how many mod-fans really consider it a deal-breaker to have no mods... did those people skip great RPGs like Risen and Mass Effect because of no mods? When you think about it the number of people mod tools attracts is pretty limited.

predcon: I still have all the Duke Nukem 3D action figures, MIB. I've got Duke, Octobrain, BattleLord, everything. I bought extras so that I could keep one of each MIB, and play with the others. The BoS edition needs a hat.
It does have two Different full sized ones

One is a Walmart Pre-Order Bonus

and The Other is a different Pre-Order Bonus

I meant a hat that comes in the BoS package itself, not as a bonus for ordering from a specific store. I hate "Order from our store and get this" bonuses. I want the classic DN3D ballcap that 3DR sold when they were also selling the coasters and the "Music to Score By" album. I have the album, but they were already sold out of hats.

Skyrim is using a whole new engine they call the Creation engine. Mod tools are still being included with Skyrim according to Todd Howard.
I'm curious when they're going to favor us with some system requirements for the game. We're like 6 weeks out and I've yet to actually see any system requirements that have been officially released by anybody that actually knows. I've seen some speculation, but it seems to me to be in poor taste to be taking preorders without giving any sort of hint as to what hardware is going to be required.

At this point they really ought to know what those are going to be, unless this is one of those "psych, you're never getting Duke Nukem Forever" pranks.

If you read more about it it's not an all-new engine. It's the same technology which powered Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3 updated again.

I'm guessing as those with the First Access Club codes(gotten with most preorders) will get a demo to test on their PCs, it should be easy for users to gauge it themselves beforehand and cancel or continue the preorder after demoing the game.

Well, yeah, I'll get the demo, but it kind of puzzles me as to how they could possibly even consider releasing the product and taking preorders when they haven't released any sort of system requirements. I mean we're like 6 weeks out at this point, and only 2 from their prebump release date the discs should be going gold any time now.

I wish we could all get "gold" discs. :D
If only Duke were still coming out on the third....otherwise it seems there's not much news and release is in a month or so. :\
