Grobles87: I just wanted to acknowledge that this is the best sale I've seen anywhere ever . It is a lot of fun seeing those seconds stack up and know that it is from people buying the game. Also, I saw the trailer for this sale and it was simply EPIC. I just want to congratulate GOG for their creativity and really hope they sell a lot of copies of each and every game in this sale. You have my thanks, my admiration and money from my wallet!

My avatar is taken from the ending credit of an animation series. I don't know what it is related to, that's why I captured it a long time ago :)
Btw, the gogmix is a really nice touch.

Davane: I am pretty sure that 1998 or 1999 is going to be Baldur's Gate - It is the defining RPG of the genre. I would have said Fallout for 1997, but GOG.com can't distribute that any more...

I'd go with Myst for 1993, Syndicate Plus for 1996, Dungeon Keeper for 1997, Total Annihilation for 1998, Deus Ex for 2000, and Evil genius for 2004.

These are just some of the biggest games I recall from my past 30 years, and the dates may be off by a year or two, and it depends if they are celebrating when the game came out, or when the expansions we done. Lots of leeway, either way!
Do you have any guesses for the year 2006 and 2009? I'm curious to know what you think. :)

ok, someone explain the year assignment for these games.

The 'Release date' listed in the game description doesn't match.
As some of these are groups, the date doesn't match the release date of any of the included games

...?

Am I correct in seeing that the M&M6pk has been on sale for nearly two hours now, and still has 1.25 hours left to go? I thought it might have been popular, but that means that approx. (2 hours = 120 minutes = 7200 seconds / 3 sec per purchase = ) 2400 copies ?!?! Give or take the number of people who have randomly pressed the +1 second button.

That seems ... high. Doesn't it?


EDIT: I guess, technically it'd be 105 minutes = 2100 copies, since we're "down" 15 minutes into the counter ... but still!

You might think so, especially as it was in a promo recently as well if I recall (I believe that's when I finally bought it myself). But then we had titles like Torchlight flying off the shelf during Insomnia, so it's hard to know how much demand there is until the game appears. Clearly there are still a lot of folks who want this one, even if some of them are just buying codes to gift out.

Well, I'm tempted to buy M&M though I have no idea when I get around to playing them, but I'll probably wait for a later sale as not to prolong this one anymore :D

Don't get me wrong -- I'm not complaining. I think it's a great way to handle the sale; more people have a shot at getting the 'crowd defined good games' in this sense. I don't have the sense of urgency I did with the Insomnia Sale (which was certainly fun it its own right!). I was just shocked at the volume. I didn't think that any game would push 2000+ copies like this. I guess I've under-estimated the pull of a flash sale.
