Let's do the time warp again*!

Welcome to our [url=http://www.gog.com]DRM-Free Time Machine Sale! Fasten your seatbelts and prepare for a fascinating ride to the early days of PC gaming and back again, with 30 excellent titles selected from the years 1983-2013, available up to 90% off (that is for as little as $0.59!). You'll find amazing games in amazing prices featured one by one on GOG.com main page, and before the sale is done you'll be able to complete your very own display of gaming history on a budget below $65 (because this would be the cost to get every single game in the sale). Are you ready?

There's more than just buying games incredibly cheap to our DRM-Free Time Machine Sale! We're ready to pass its steering wheel (or rather the control console) to YOU. Each game in the sale is offered for a limited time only, and how long we stay in its year is up to you! Each time you see a new game on sale you can vote to either add or subtract 1 second from the timer. Each time you buy a game, you add 3 seconds to the time of it being on sale. We begin with 1983's Zork, bundled with the rest of the Zork Anthology of 6 games in total, for only $1.79. How long will it last on the front page? You'll be the judge. What comes next, as the game of 1984? Let's find out!

Let's take a trip in GOG.com's DRM-Free Time Machine Sale! 30 great games from 1983-2013 will be available up to 90% off, and you get to decide how long each game is on sale. Ready? The technomagical gateway to 1983 opens NOW!

* "Again?", you might ask, "when did they ever do the time warp?". Well, once you embark on a journey through time, all becomes relevant and there's absolutely no guarantee that what you are doing, you are doing for the first time. In fact, that's highly improbable. After all, time isn't linear. It's more like a giant wobbly-bobbly goggy-boggy ball of gaming awesome!

Blast! I woke up and saw that I missed all the quest games.

Still, this is a very neat idea for a sale. xD
Woot, love these sales! Read the mail, dropped by, arrived just in time to pick up the Police Quest pack and now just finished reading through this thread (hehe, love that it's already gotten to 44 pages! :-) ). Already got SimCity 2000 (would actually love to see the original SimCity on GOG as well!), wondering now which game will be up for 1990?
Bugger missed out on KQ and SQ lol

Soccorro: Feels like this is about to become as brutal as the Insomnia sale
And I have to got to the university tomorrow and it's already around 12pm/0am here. :S
I'm afraid I might miss something awesome. >-<

Thexder: Time Reaver: Legacy of Keane

Edit: I have nothing against Keane, just jumping on the bandflogging.
Truly the Citizen Keane of games.

It seemed that a lot of people weren't interested in Space Questing so it was booted off in half an hour.

I second this! There were some very fun tileset expansions as well like Wild West and Moon Colony.

Buenro-games: Thank you. Too bad I missed my chance to complete King and Police Quest series. Oh well, much appreciated stg83.

Karma313th: It's possible they'll come by again.

There was a mention of the RHPS "let's do the timewarp again" bit in reference to the sale, so...It's possible it'll cycle like the Insomnia sale did.
Maybe we should be thankful that there was no reference along the lines of "I Got You Babe".

I know I've depleted GOG's classic games when these sales run around and I seem to own every single one ;D

The same thing happened during the fall promo and again during the winter promo, new years promo, and most weekend promos for months.

Maybe I should actually try tackling my backlog and let the series collect again on GOG with new classic re-releases? Now there's a plan! :D

From Jmich's excellent gog release spread sheet

Wing Commander 1+2 26/09/1990
Worlds of Ultima: The Savage Empire 30/12/1990
Wizardry 6+7 1/01/1990
Sid Meier's Covert Action 3/06/1990

were the games released in those years available on GOG (unless i sorted it wrong)

The only one I don't own is Covert Action, but that just came out here barely a month ago. I'll put my bet on Wing Commander 1+2 or Wizardry 6+7 for 1990

InfraSuperman: Honestly, I never had a problem with the DOS version. The only thing that people seem to find wrong with it is the music, which I think is fine. The DOS version at least doesn't have the graphical issues that seem to exist in the Windows version, where the animations don't work half of the time. I don't know whether that's a problem inherent to that version or just an issue that comes with running it on a modern computer ... All I'm saying is that I wouldn't call the DOS version "inferior" and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone interested in SimCity 2000.
The Windows 95 version runs windowed and can expand to any given resolution so that's a big help for multi-tasking and seeing more of the city at once.

64-bit installation problems can be resolved with this patch. I don't know about the animation/speed issues (I haven't played the game enough lately) but it fixes installation and a problem with saving cities.

For anyone who doesn't already have it the DOS version is great, of course, but I already have that and more on the retail CD. Anyone buying this with memories of the Windows 95 version would probably be disappointed by its restrictions.

Morten79: The Secret of Monkey Island CD version :P
We all wish.

But there was a very notable game that came out in 1990.

Wing Commander.

Of course, with them using sequels in the original's release year, all bets are off, but...I wouldn't be shocked to see one of the games in the series to show up.
