Let's do the time warp again*!

Welcome to our [url=http://www.gog.com]DRM-Free Time Machine Sale! Fasten your seatbelts and prepare for a fascinating ride to the early days of PC gaming and back again, with 30 excellent titles selected from the years 1983-2013, available up to 90% off (that is for as little as $0.59!). You'll find amazing games in amazing prices featured one by one on GOG.com main page, and before the sale is done you'll be able to complete your very own display of gaming history on a budget below $65 (because this would be the cost to get every single game in the sale). Are you ready?

<iframe width="590" height="322" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/6_uC01QztBg?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

There's more than just buying games incredibly cheap to our DRM-Free Time Machine Sale! We're ready to pass its steering wheel (or rather the control console) to YOU. Each game in the sale is offered for a limited time only, and how long we stay in its year is up to you! Each time you see a new game on sale you can vote to either add or subtract 1 second from the timer. Each time you buy a game, you add 3 seconds to the time of it being on sale. We begin with 1983's Zork, bundled with the rest of the Zork Anthology of 6 games in total, for only $1.79. How long will it last on the front page? You'll be the judge. What comes next, as the game of 1984? Let's find out!

Let's take a trip in GOG.com's DRM-Free Time Machine Sale! 30 great games from 1983-2013 will be available up to 90% off, and you get to decide how long each game is on sale. Ready? The technomagical gateway to 1983 opens NOW!

* "Again?", you might ask, "when did they ever do the time warp?". Well, once you embark on a journey through time, all becomes relevant and there's absolutely no guarantee that what you are doing, you are doing for the first time. In fact, that's highly improbable. After all, time isn't linear. It's more like a giant wobbly-bobbly goggy-boggy ball of gaming awesome!

runewarden: Sad I missed the early Sierra titles, will wait for those to go back to sales in the future! The only one's I've caught I either own, or no interest.

GoG needs a huge adventure game sale next week for my birthday of the titles I don't own ;-) hehe (actually can't complain I've manage to pick up so many wish list games in January that I'm scared to look at my bank account!).

Do we think the more recent Amnesia game will appear in 2013? Desperate to play that!
Ah, you have a birthday next week, give me a PM if there is something you really want, I might just have a spare key to such a title.

The more recent Amnesia? If you are suffering from insomnia and you want a game that will put you to sleep while travelling at a snails 's pace along a rail , it will be the ideal game for you. If you are more into engaging horror games, stay away from it and get System Shock 2 instead.

CrashNBrn: Guess I don't like "Good Games" then.
No need to get offended. All I'm saying is Grimrock is a great example of the genre. Including everything you disliked, like the combat. You may not enjoy it, nothing wrong with that. I'm sure I would not have enjoyed, for example, Amnesia, as I don't enjoy horror games, not being able to fight only to run and hide etc. I would most likely hate it, but it doesn't mean there is anything wrong with it.

it's all fun and games until you ask for a game and someone generously posts you a key in the forum and the legendary ninja bot swoops it away.

That legendary ninja key-stealing bot is a legend just a notch below the legendary kuma-san, which failed to appear in this sale. Although you can see him in the attachment if you happen to miss good ol' kuma-san.

I finally broke the ice with UnEpic for this sale. Kinda disappointed I did not get the chance to snag Neverwinter nights.
So what are some of the goggers thoughts on the negative reviews that UnEpic has received? Most seem related to a handful of (or one) off-colour situation(s). Though the positive reviews definitely outnumber the rest. I didn't see any positive reviews that addressed these complaints

?) Horrible controls (but it can't be worse than Gothic.)
--- Better with a controller?

The few things that I saw that might diminish the playability would be:
1) the inventory system is terrible - no autosorting, a lot of manual shuffling needed
--- could be a valid annoyance, as Inventory Maintenance can be tedious.
2) "the storage space (your bank) is terrible"
-- which is pretty vague.
The best way for me to decide on a game is to watch gameplay videos, which can also tell you something about controls at times because the commenter or reviewer will complain if there is something particularly annoying.

I saw the ninja thing : that's sad, from bot or human... Damn ninjas. Lurking everywhere...

kuma-san ? You mean... well, I think I meet him one "wonderful-Fallout-for everyone-day". And see him not only once :D
(but it was still a great day ^^)

JustSayin: Wait a minute. I mean I have 12 games on my hard drive, not 12 games total. They are all scattered across multiple sites. (GOG, Steam, Humble Bundle)
avatar
ggf162: I've got ~140 games installed on my HDD, and that's just from GOG alone.
.......Damn

Just curious, how many of those have you finished?

Honestly, I have no clue what are those complaints even really about. I played the whole thing to the very end, and had no problems with any of those. I don't really remember the inventory, it didn't annoy. Nu then again, I have usually no problems with sorting through inventories manually unless it's somehow mad particularly annoying, which is not the case here. Had no problems with controls either, but than again I'm one of those weirdos who hate controllers, and always consider keybord and mouse the best option (except for a joystick in flight simulators).

My only complaint is that the end fight is absolutely insane. I never finished the game, because the final fight is not only tough as nails, but also rather long (and very peculiar, to say the least), and starting it over every time just too frustrating. And I will never finish it now, as I'm too out of practise with the game. Still, I had many hours of fun with it. For this price, it's a great buy.

foxworks: Maybe it's just me, but I see Fuin's name sitting above Thank you and I keep reading: F* you. :P
HAHAHAHHH LOL this post caused so much confusion in my brain! I thought you were cursing/cussing at me for some reason, and that just didn't make any sense - not from you :D It took me a good two or three minutes to understand what you meant.

It's late here, must go to sleep..
AAAAAAAAH!

I need to sleep now, it's very late. But I gonna miss the grand finale :(

What's next? Grimrock?
avatar
MisterLovejoy: Thanks OFG.

Guess that's the end of my sale then and trolling this thread. It was fun and I really enjoyed some of the jokes and convo. Thanks everyone and see you next sale thread!!! :)

P.S. If you are an RPG addict like myself and are considering Grimrock, google GRIMROCK RACES first and make sure you're okay with it. It's one human race and three monster races. That's it (no elves, no dwarves, no orcs, etc).

Thanks again all. Be well.
avatar
Buenro-games: What is wrong with the races? You are too picky and bedsides you don't even see your character at all since it's first person. Just imagine its an elf who was raised by humans or something.

http://www.gamebanshee.com/legendofgrimrock/races.php

The races are pretty creative in my opinion.
Well, look at it this way: the main characters of LoG aren't your average noble elven or brave dwarven heroes but convicts, riff-raff, scum, that is creepy bug(ger)s, slimy scoundrels, beefy beasts and worst of all, humans. ;)
