Let's do the time warp again*!

Welcome to our [url=http://www.gog.com]DRM-Free Time Machine Sale! Fasten your seatbelts and prepare for a fascinating ride to the early days of PC gaming and back again, with 30 excellent titles selected from the years 1983-2013, available up to 90% off (that is for as little as $0.59!). You'll find amazing games in amazing prices featured one by one on GOG.com main page, and before the sale is done you'll be able to complete your very own display of gaming history on a budget below $65 (because this would be the cost to get every single game in the sale). Are you ready?

<iframe width="590" height="322" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/6_uC01QztBg?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

There's more than just buying games incredibly cheap to our DRM-Free Time Machine Sale! We're ready to pass its steering wheel (or rather the control console) to YOU. Each game in the sale is offered for a limited time only, and how long we stay in its year is up to you! Each time you see a new game on sale you can vote to either add or subtract 1 second from the timer. Each time you buy a game, you add 3 seconds to the time of it being on sale. We begin with 1983's Zork, bundled with the rest of the Zork Anthology of 6 games in total, for only $1.79. How long will it last on the front page? You'll be the judge. What comes next, as the game of 1984? Let's find out!

Let's take a trip in GOG.com's DRM-Free Time Machine Sale! 30 great games from 1983-2013 will be available up to 90% off, and you get to decide how long each game is on sale. Ready? The technomagical gateway to 1983 opens NOW!

* "Again?", you might ask, "when did they ever do the time warp?". Well, once you embark on a journey through time, all becomes relevant and there's absolutely no guarantee that what you are doing, you are doing for the first time. In fact, that's highly improbable. After all, time isn't linear. It's more like a giant wobbly-bobbly goggy-boggy ball of gaming awesome!

Thrasher1984: Hi community!

I snatched some free games in the official thread during the awesome Fall Insomnia Promo, so now I want to give something back to you guys. :)

Would you like a free copy of Anachronox? Just answer the following quiz:

Anchronox uses a strongly modified version of the game engine originally used in [answer].

?RFC-9X47-4K8D-L97L

The missing letter of the key is the first letter of the answer. Good luck! ;)
Quake?
I paid full price for POD

Buenro-games: Sigh. It a way of saying that you need to find a silver lining to even bad events or else you will be miserable. Or something like that. Sigh.

ReynardFox: Your wording sounded extremely cynical, like the gifter deserved to be punished for not immediately expecting the worst from people.
I think he was just being realistic. If you want to give a specific bum a dollar, you dont throw it into a horde of bums. What do you think will happen?

It's not about expecting the worst from people, it's knowing that the internet is like a completely unrestricted open public space, and if you leave your wallet out in the open "for one specific guy to pick up", don't be surprised if someone else picks it up. He didn't even obscure the code by adding ? substitutions with clues. It may have been a bot, they can troll these kinds of threads for these exact kinds of giveaways.

PM is best, or at least bot-proof the code with a human clue.

Sanjuro: Is it still legal to use the word "candy" for games? I thought it was trademarked away.
avatar
IAmSinistar: I don't think I'm using candy in any legal sense there. ;)
Yes indeed that was established thoroughly by our little exchange regarding the tantalizing use of candy. ;)

I think King's lawyers would at this point probably reply with something like: "It does not matter what you think, only what we do. And we think you've got some money that you haven't yet dedicated to GOG sale. GIEF! O__O". Something like that... >_>

Got it! Thank you very much :)
Okay, that's weird.
I just checked GOG.com on my pone, and the time there is ~ 2-3 minutes less than on my PC.
Wtf?

goldragon: Looks like someone was faster than me as it says invalid code :)
But still thanks for trying to help.

foxworks: If you still don't have a copy, I can PM you one. Let me know.
Is this game worth it?
I just panicked and bought.Torchlight. Is it any good? :)

Haha, good post. The use of the word "bum" made it sound funny although a bit rudish, maybe if we replace "bum" with "banker" it might be a bit more PC and keep the same idea. : D

gscotti: Thanks a lot! I am told that now I am a worthy GOG member :D

IAmSinistar: Going by your join date, you can comfortably assume have been one for a while. But yes, ownership of The Witcher is like learning the club's secret handshake. :)
There was a time I thought Fallout and Fallout 2 were those games... imagine my shock when GOG pulled those games from the store. But, OTOH, those games probably were owned by everybody on here.

Jrmets92: Anyone have an extra code from FTL: Faster than Light or Smugglers V? You will earn a BIG IOU from me. I will return the favor. Thanks

IAmSinistar: You'll be wanting this thread for those requests. Nice to keep things in this one at least tangentially related to the topic, yes?

Don't get me wrong, but I did have an image of pedobear when you first mentioned candy in this thread ;D
Octodad ninja release.

Wtf?
Synchronisation with the callback code seems to be weaker on phones and tablets than on the PC. So the former tend to lose time whereas the latter are more accurate.

If you like Diablo, probably, if you don't, stay far away.
