Let's do the time warp again*!

Welcome to our [url=http://www.gog.com]DRM-Free Time Machine Sale! Fasten your seatbelts and prepare for a fascinating ride to the early days of PC gaming and back again, with 30 excellent titles selected from the years 1983-2013, available up to 90% off (that is for as little as $0.59!). You'll find amazing games in amazing prices featured one by one on GOG.com main page, and before the sale is done you'll be able to complete your very own display of gaming history on a budget below $65 (because this would be the cost to get every single game in the sale). Are you ready?

There's more than just buying games incredibly cheap to our DRM-Free Time Machine Sale! We're ready to pass its steering wheel (or rather the control console) to YOU. Each game in the sale is offered for a limited time only, and how long we stay in its year is up to you! Each time you see a new game on sale you can vote to either add or subtract 1 second from the timer. Each time you buy a game, you add 3 seconds to the time of it being on sale. We begin with 1983's Zork, bundled with the rest of the Zork Anthology of 6 games in total, for only $1.79. How long will it last on the front page? You'll be the judge. What comes next, as the game of 1984? Let's find out!

Let's take a trip in GOG.com's DRM-Free Time Machine Sale! 30 great games from 1983-2013 will be available up to 90% off, and you get to decide how long each game is on sale. Ready? The technomagical gateway to 1983 opens NOW!

* "Again?", you might ask, "when did they ever do the time warp?". Well, once you embark on a journey through time, all becomes relevant and there's absolutely no guarantee that what you are doing, you are doing for the first time. In fact, that's highly improbable. After all, time isn't linear. It's more like a giant wobbly-bobbly goggy-boggy ball of gaming awesome!

IAmSinistar: I'm not sure I understand the distinction. ;)

JMich: One is a danger to kids and shunned by society. The other one can't find work.
LOL, I'm loving this sub-thread. Brilliance all around.

CrashNBrn: So if we can't officially "gift" games we buy (now own) is it still "legal" to download the game, not use the activation code, give the downloaded game to someone else (e.g. my Nephew), along with the activation code... I can;t see how there would be any technical restrictions from doing so.
avatar
HypersomniacLive: What activation code are you talking about? Games on GOG are completely DRM-free, no activation no nth.

Games on your shelf are exclusively for personal use or multiple installations within your household (it's stated in the ToU). If you want to gift a GOG game to your nephew, you should buy it as a gift code. Your nephew would need his own GOG account though in order to redeem it.
Well how the f' would I know. I only joined last year, and everytime I tried to get in on a sale Xmas, and New-Years I wound up with about 40-60+ tabs open with games I was trying to decide between. Then after a few days of reading reviews and whittling my list down to 15-25 games, attempt to purchase and the sales were all over.
So the 4 I picked up here during The Time-Warp are my first GOG-games.

Buenro-games: But if that was the case, I think the ninja should be thanked for teaching the gifter a valuable lesson about using a public open forum to offer a key to a specific individual instead of sending it in a PM message. No??...

gscotti: I hope you're kidding, but I'm afraid you're serious.
Sigh. It a way of saying that you need to find a silver lining to even bad events or else you will be miserable. Or something like that. Sigh.

greggk124: Any predictions for 2010-2013 (2014 too?) games?
Unepic, Legend of Grimrock, and Spelunky are already confirmed; there's only 1 unknown game left likely the next one.
I just got up...... well, The Witcher didn't spend any time at all lolly-gagging.

Good one!

MisterLovejoy: Right on bueno, but people should also have manners. It keeps civilization, well, civilized. Saying thank you doesnt hurt anyone and when someone does something for you, IMHO it's required (regardless of the motivating forces involved).

...and yes, i agree with the name and shame suggested earlier in this particular case and did not miss the point of this sitch.
avatar
Buenro-games: Agreed.

avatar
deneric: It's not so much an issue of not being thanked as it is that the gifter was very clear in his desire for the game to go to Goldragon, but it was still ninja'd from him before he could enter the code.

Buenro-games: But if that was the case, I think the ninja should be thanked for teaching the gifter a valuable lesson about using a public open forum to offer a key to a specific individual instead of sending it in a PM message. No??...
A spiritual evolved soul might indeed thank him...But lets just get a name and shame shame shame :D
avatar
gscotti: Thanks a lot! I am told that now I am a worthy GOG member :D
Going by your join date, you can comfortably assume have been one for a while. But yes, ownership of The Witcher is like learning the club's secret handshake. :)

Jrmets92: Anyone have an extra code from FTL: Faster than Light or Smugglers V? You will earn a BIG IOU from me. I will return the favor. Thanks
You'll be wanting this thread for those requests. Nice to keep things in this one at least tangentially related to the topic, yes?

avatar
IAmSinistar: I have candy for you, child.
avatar
Sanjuro: Is it still legal to use the word "candy" for games? I thought it was trademarked away.
I don't think I'm using candy in any legal sense there. ;)

OMG SPOILER ALERT!

Your wording sounded extremely cynical, like the gifter deserved to be punished for not immediately expecting the worst from people.

I own some games here on GOG I never downloaded since I got them from different bundles so it would have been great if you could gift those games. Hopefully GOG add this feature in the future.

Hi community!

I snatched some free games in the official thread during the awesome Fall Insomnia Promo, so now I want to give something back to you guys. :)

Would you like a free copy of Anachronox? Just answer the following quiz:

Anchronox uses a strongly modified version of the game engine originally used in [answer].

?RFC-9X47-4K8D-L97L

The missing letter of the key is the first letter of the answer. Good luck! ;)

Well it kinda did, but now people really are chasing off Torchlight with pitchforks.

2010 is most likely Amnesia: The Dark Descent.

theslitherydeee: I'm annoyed I missed the Tomb Raider deal the night before.
I would not despair. I paid full-price for Tomb Raider 1+2+3 because it's the game that brought me to GOG and I've seen it on several sales since then. Hopefully it will be on sale before long.
