There's more than just buying games incredibly cheap to our DRM-Free Time Machine Sale! We're ready to pass its steering wheel (or rather the control console) to YOU. Each game in the sale is offered for a limited time only, and how long we stay in its year is up to you! Each time you see a new game on sale you can vote to either add or subtract 1 second from the timer. Each time you buy a game, you add 3 seconds to the time of it being on sale. We begin with 1983's Zork, bundled with the rest of the Zork Anthology of 6 games in total, for only $1.79. How long will it last on the front page? You'll be the judge. What comes next, as the game of 1984? Let's find out!

Let's take a trip in GOG.com's DRM-Free Time Machine Sale! 30 great games from 1983-2013 will be available up to 90% off, and you get to decide how long each game is on sale. Ready? The technomagical gateway to 1983 opens NOW!

* "Again?", you might ask, "when did they ever do the time warp?". Well, once you embark on a journey through time, all becomes relevant and there's absolutely no guarantee that what you are doing, you are doing for the first time. In fact, that's highly improbable. After all, time isn't linear. It's more like a giant wobbly-bobbly goggy-boggy ball of gaming awesome!

IAmSinistar: So who STILL doesn't have The Witcher after all this? I have candy for you, child.
avatar
gscotti: I don't have it.
Check your PMs, because now you do.

That sounds like something a registered sex offender or a catholic priest would say. :P and a +1 for your generosity. :)

Buenro-games: I disagree. If you are giving gifts in order to be thanked, then I personally think you are giving gfits for the wrong reason. That's not to say that it's not nice to be thanked for gifting, but some people who redeem gift keys might be very shy, or not comfortable with English, or whatever other reason that I don't think that "shaming" someone who took a key that was given for free should be ok.

I think the best type of "thank you" is the one given sincerely and not the one you need to ask for.

MisterLovejoy: Right on bueno, but people should also have manners. It keeps civilization, well, civilized. Saying thank you doesnt hurt anyone and when someone does something for you, IMHO it's required (regardless of the motivating forces involved).
This wasn't even an issue of manners: the person giving the game wanted to send it to a specific person.

I agree. But hey, not all is lost. Check your PM

Ponxha: Still hesitating on Torchlight as I own the 2nd but not the 1st ..
avatar
deneric: I really enjoyed Torchlight, but it'll definitely be disappointing after Torchlight 2. The sequel was really a complete improvement
I actually liked it a lot even after playing the second one first, though in a somewhat different way. While Torchlight 2 ironed out pretty much every flaw of the first one while still preserving everything that was great about it, it also has a much larger scale and thus requires a lot more time and attention. The original, however, is one of those games I love to play for just 10 to 15 minutes at a time, hacking away at hordes of monsters with little distraction beyond that.

I understood scotty.

Qtis: Not really worth going to 1 if you have 2. Not that 1 is a bad game, don't get me wrong, but 2 is an improved version in many ways. Regardless, the price is a steal.
avatar
Ponxha: Yeah the price is attractive on paper even if it's inferior to the 2nd... But my bank adds a fee when converting $ to € so it makes me think a lot before buying anything ^^ I'll wait for other sales I guess
Wait... did you mean € to $? Because I've been paying in $... I think? Also what about Paypal?

...and yes, i agree with the name and shame suggested earlier in this particular case and did not miss the point of this sitch.
Agreed.

deneric: It's not so much an issue of not being thanked as it is that the gifter was very clear in his desire for the game to go to Goldragon, but it was still ninja'd from him before he could enter the code.
But if that was the case, I think the ninja should be thanked for teaching the gifter a valuable lesson about using a public open forum to offer a key to a specific individual instead of sending it in a PM message. No??...

I'm not sure I understand the distinction. ;)
Does anyone have an extra copy of Torchlight? I didn't get it when it was free and I have Torchlight 2 on Steam, would love to play the first.

Spent all my money on earlier sales (Wizardry collection, the Witcher)

Really, thanks a lot.

One is a danger to kids and shunned by society. The other one can't find work.

awalterj: Why is Torchlight going down so fast, is it so mediocre as a game?

I'm debating a purchase but have to leave in a minute....argh life and its crucial decisions
Most already have it. And like others have said TL2 is the better game.

I only bought it as I don't have it, might get a few hours or so out of it, and decide if I want to pick up TL2 at some point.

Plus I like what GOG has done for gaming. One could say the same about Steam - but since Steam allows 3rd-party DRM on-top of Steams authentication -- it really hasn't done anything for gaming beyond bringing prices down for digitial distribution. And the whole Steam-Box thing might of been interesting, except it was done in response to MS having a store in Windows 8 --- which is a lame-ass reason all-told.
