There's more than just buying games incredibly cheap to our DRM-Free Time Machine Sale! We're ready to pass its steering wheel (or rather the control console) to YOU. Each game in the sale is offered for a limited time only, and how long we stay in its year is up to you! Each time you see a new game on sale you can vote to either add or subtract 1 second from the timer. Each time you buy a game, you add 3 seconds to the time of it being on sale. We begin with 1983's Zork, bundled with the rest of the Zork Anthology of 6 games in total, for only $1.79. How long will it last on the front page? You'll be the judge. What comes next, as the game of 1984? Let's find out!

Let's take a trip in GOG.com's DRM-Free Time Machine Sale! 30 great games from 1983-2013 will be available up to 90% off, and you get to decide how long each game is on sale. Ready? The technomagical gateway to 1983 opens NOW!

* "Again?", you might ask, "when did they ever do the time warp?". Well, once you embark on a journey through time, all becomes relevant and there's absolutely no guarantee that what you are doing, you are doing for the first time. In fact, that's highly improbable. After all, time isn't linear. It's more like a giant wobbly-bobbly goggy-boggy ball of gaming awesome!

Anyone want Torchlight for free now? ;) (Drop me a PM.)

awalterj: Why is Torchlight going down so fast, is it so mediocre as a game?

I'm debating a purchase but have to leave in a minute....argh life and its crucial decisions

OdanUrr: GOG gave it away for free not that long ago.
I guess that anwers that...

ouch for the developers and their feelings :)

The problem is that EVERYBODY got it already ^^. Atleast nearly everyone.
So is there definitely no repeat sales for this? I missed out on Gothic, too. Urg!

ReynardFox: If you originally gifted yourself the code, you can look in your account under 'gifts' you can see who exactly redeemed it. Also whoever took it is a dick.
avatar
gscotti: Yup. I think the gifter should name-and-shame. I hate to sound like and old grump, but "this used to be such a nice neighborhood..."
I disagree. If you are giving gifts in order to be thanked, then I personally think you are giving gfits for the wrong reason. That's not to say that it's not nice to be thanked for gifting, but some people who redeem gift keys might be very shy, or not comfortable with English, or whatever other reason that I don't think that "shaming" someone who took a key that was given for free should be ok.

I think the best type of "thank you" is the one given sincerely and not the one you need to ask for.

Ponxha: Still hesitating on Torchlight as I own the 2nd but not the 1st ..
Not really worth going to 1 if you have 2. Not that 1 is a bad game, don't get me wrong, but 2 is an improved version in many ways. Regardless, the price is a steal.

Way to completely miss the point! The original gifter intended to gift the game to a specific person. Nothing to do at all with thanking.

thanks for the info, I was going to buy it as a gift but if nobody is going to actually play it, I won't bother trying to force anyone to his or her luck.

It´s because a lot of people here already own it, and for that reason is going down fast.

In the case of a completely random "here's a code folks, go for it" i'd agree, but In this particular case, the gifter was offering a copy to an individual and someone else jumped on it. While the gifter probably should have PM'd the code, the sniper's move was a dick one and shouldn't be encouraged.

Right on bueno, but people should also have manners. It keeps civilization, well, civilized. Saying thank you doesnt hurt anyone and when someone does something for you, IMHO it's required (regardless of the motivating forces involved).

...and yes, i agree with the name and shame suggested earlier in this particular case and did not miss the point of this sitch.

It's not so much an issue of not being thanked as it is that the gifter was very clear in his desire for the game to go to Goldragon, but it was still ninja'd from him before he could enter the code.

Yeah the price is attractive on paper even if it's inferior to the 2nd... But my bank adds a fee when converting $ to € so it makes me think a lot before buying anything ^^ I'll wait for other sales I guess
