Let's do the time warp again*!

Welcome to our [url=http://www.gog.com]DRM-Free Time Machine Sale! Fasten your seatbelts and prepare for a fascinating ride to the early days of PC gaming and back again, with 30 excellent titles selected from the years 1983-2013, available up to 90% off (that is for as little as $0.59!). You'll find amazing games in amazing prices featured one by one on GOG.com main page, and before the sale is done you'll be able to complete your very own display of gaming history on a budget below $65 (because this would be the cost to get every single game in the sale). Are you ready?

There's more than just buying games incredibly cheap to our DRM-Free Time Machine Sale! We're ready to pass its steering wheel (or rather the control console) to YOU. Each game in the sale is offered for a limited time only, and how long we stay in its year is up to you! Each time you see a new game on sale you can vote to either add or subtract 1 second from the timer. Each time you buy a game, you add 3 seconds to the time of it being on sale. We begin with 1983's Zork, bundled with the rest of the Zork Anthology of 6 games in total, for only $1.79. How long will it last on the front page? You'll be the judge. What comes next, as the game of 1984? Let's find out!

Let's take a trip in GOG.com's DRM-Free Time Machine Sale! 30 great games from 1983-2013 will be available up to 90% off, and you get to decide how long each game is on sale. Ready? The technomagical gateway to 1983 opens NOW!

* "Again?", you might ask, "when did they ever do the time warp?". Well, once you embark on a journey through time, all becomes relevant and there's absolutely no guarantee that what you are doing, you are doing for the first time. In fact, that's highly improbable. After all, time isn't linear. It's more like a giant wobbly-bobbly goggy-boggy ball of gaming awesome!

skeletonbow: It's amazing how some people don't read the GOG promotional announcement, especially the part that says "Each time you buy a game, you add 3 seconds to the time of it being on sale." :oP
I never read that stuff

You really should, they always write in such an entertaining way!

Austrobogulator: Well, because I'm on the fence; I liked the original Prince of Persia, although I doubt this is even similar at all =/

Actually, it was gremlins.
Oh, I see. My wishlist features only the games i "tried" by playing them (either a demo or a full version), watching youtube videos and the like.
Well, you have almost an hour to decide so I suggest looking up some "let's play"/review videos to get the feel of the game.

I'm with you mang. I've never in my life read one of those. They grin at you and look sideways at your wallet at the same time.
Hey everyone.

I just realised the sale was going on.

Could somebody please post a list of all the games that have gone by in the sale and what prices they went for.

Thank you.

I'm just curious that is all. :)

It's enjoyable but not necessarily that much like the original that much I guess (since I haven't played the original >_>)? At least, in the sense that there isn't a time limit and it's a lot more forgiving since there's a time reversal mechanic that lets you rewind time a few seconds if you fall or die in a fight as long as you have some charges left in your sands of time meter (as well as frequent health restoring fountains). It's mostly environmental exploration and climbing/parkour stuff, climbing up footholds, shimmying along ledges, swinging from poles etc. with some light puzzles and intermittent combat every few rooms.

though, the combat is a bit of a slog since it's fairly defensive and you have to wait until you have an opening to absorb their sands of time after they fall down or they'll just get back up (well I think you could also freeze them in place and kill them, but it costs charges of your sands meter and you mostly get them back by absorbing enemies). Not hard, but a bit annoying/repetitive at times.
Going to sleep... missed Serious Sam: The First Encounter ...... DAMMMMIT :(
BRAIN WHY YOU FAIL ME IN TIME OF TRIAL!!!!

Mission accomplished: Got 3 hours of sleep and didn't miss out on anything. Thank you, Serious Sam!
I know beggars can't be choosers, but I'm pretty bummed out at the concentration of action/platformer games in this promo....

sneakyraccoon: I like the sales mechanic for this sale but I think it should have been taken a step further so when a game's time expires it has an encore sale for a 24 hour period at a lesser discount. For example, Sands of Time is currently 75% off so once its timer reaches 0 it then rolls to a 24 hour timer at say 50% off. This allows those that stay glued to their screens the benefit of snagging a sweat deal and those that miss it for whatever reason an opportunity to still snag it at a good price.
Then some people will just complain that the second sale price isn't the same discount as the day before. No matter what GOG does, someone will complain about it, it is human nature. A smart man once said "When you try to please everyone, you end up pleasing no one." The best thing to do is to just make decisions towards your goals (in this case making money) and don't look back, don't explain who/what/where/when/why to people, just do things and move on, and learn from the experiences you have to make even better decisions in the future. This applies to life really, not just GOG's sales department. :)

Seriously though, when you are in the business - any business, where you have hundreds/thousands/millions of customers, it's like being in political office. Every single thing you do, every decision you make will be loved by some people and hated by others. People will praise you and people will despise you. Your own intentions to do good for people, to give people a good deal, to create, to innovate, to help people, whatever it is - will be both praised and ridiculed it is pretty much a guarantee. One can be affected by it and have a bad experience, or just accept it is the reality in a population that comes with the territory, and just keep making what you believe at the time to be the right decisions to meet your chosen goals and move on without spending much time worrying about your detractors and naysayers. Listen to what everyone has to say when you can, and try to adapt any good ideas that come up towards your goals, but don't get caught up in it too much or take it too seriously - that's what I learned in the software industry.

What GOG should do IMHO is keep being GOG. That seems to be working quite well for them from the outside looking in. ;o)

Do be careful with such statements, we have a serial gifter on the loose, I repeat, be careful, foxworks is on a gifting spree.
If you come across foxworks, be wary, this guy/gal is really awesome and can cause your shelf to suffer a load of new games.
I suggest everyone to take extreme precautions as to not provoke the gifting. It should all settle down eventually.
