Let's do the time warp again*!

Fasten your seatbelts and prepare for a fascinating ride to the early days of PC gaming and back again, with 30 excellent titles selected from the years 1983-2013, available up to 90% off (that is for as little as $0.59!). You'll find amazing games in amazing prices featured one by one on GOG.com main page, and before the sale is done you'll be able to complete your very own display of gaming history on a budget below $65 (because this would be the cost to get every single game in the sale). There's more than just buying games incredibly cheap to our DRM-Free Time Machine Sale! We're ready to pass its steering wheel (or rather the control console) to YOU. Each game in the sale is offered for a limited time only, and how long we stay in its year is up to you! Each time you see a new game on sale you can vote to either add or subtract 1 second from the timer. Each time you buy a game, you add 3 seconds to the time of it being on sale. We begin with 1983's Zork, bundled with the rest of the Zork Anthology of 6 games in total, for only $1.79. How long will it last on the front page? You'll be the judge. What comes next, as the game of 1984? Let's find out!

Let's take a trip in GOG.com's DRM-Free Time Machine Sale! 30 great games from 1983-2013 will be available up to 90% off, and you get to decide how long each game is on sale. Ready? The technomagical gateway to 1983 opens NOW!

* "Again?", you might ask, "when did they ever do the time warp?". Well, once you embark on a journey through time, all becomes relevant and there's absolutely no guarantee that what you are doing, you are doing for the first time. In fact, that's highly improbable. After all, time isn't linear. It's more like a giant wobbly-bobbly goggy-boggy ball of gaming awesome!

deneric: What're the odds Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone is going to come up for 2004? I'm always tempted to buy it, but (given my college student video game budget) I can never seem to justify it's price against it's 3.5 stars on GoG.
Deneric I played that through when it came out. While the graphics are decent it's in essence a video game with an RPG disguise on...and very very short with little to no replay value. You jump between three characters at the touch of a button and theres absolutely no sandbox element to it. It doesnt suck, but its not good either.

Hmm yeah, that's what I was afraid of :P Well thanks, I'll just wait for it to be on sale!

PaladinWay: I thought the mechanic for this sale sounded much better when I first read it than I do after looking at the time left several times and thinking, "that's not long, I can wait it out and see what the next one is before heading to bed" for the past hour with Serious Sam.

As a gamer in my thirties, I appreciate the sales I can check once/day over these timed ones.
I like the sales mechanic for this sale but I think it should have been taken a step further so when a game's time expires it has an encore sale for a 24 hour period at a lesser discount. For example, Sands of Time is currently 75% off so once its timer reaches 0 it then rolls to a 24 hour timer at say 50% off. This allows those that stay glued to their screens the benefit of snagging a sweat deal and those that miss it for whatever reason an opportunity to still snag it at a good price.

If you like the genre and you don't mind so much for the setting, buy enclave instead.
It's much better and cheaper than Demon Stone.

Hm, Sands of Time is on my wishlist, I'm just not really sure that I should buy it. I'm not exactly convinced that it's something I'd really enjoy?

Ooh Enclave, that's another one I keep looking at! Alright, if I can make it through this sale with some semblance of self control, I'm gonna reward myself with that :)
The Sands of Time is a good game, at least with a gamepad (played on the xbox myself). I think it's the best of the "Sands" trilogy.

Lol. I hear you. These sales feed more of the addict game buyer in me than the gamer. And I second that opinion. Enclave is a great game and it gets fairly difficult if you like a challenge. I couldn't finish it.

PiotrxV: Amazing how some ppl think that buying game actually increase time.
avatar
CarrionCrow: Each game purchase increases the remaining time by three seconds.
It's amazing how some people don't read the GOG promotional announcement, especially the part that says "Each time you buy a game, you add 3 seconds to the time of it being on sale." :oP

I actually like this idea. This would have been great for the Insomnia sale.

How did it get added to you wishlist in the first place then? :-)
I am putting my foot down with this game, Serious Sam was my last action game purchase. They simply do not age well.

Well, because I'm on the fence; I liked the original Prince of Persia, although I doubt this is even similar at all =/

Actually, it was gremlins.
This sale is surprisingly low-key. Actually walking away from certain items even with the heavy price reductions. Guess that's the upshot of attacking every sale for a few months like a full-on cyber hoarder.
I gave in and bought Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time anyway. Hope it's as good as I remember.
