Each time you see a new game on sale you can vote to either add or subtract 1 second from the timer. Each time you buy a game, you add 3 seconds to the time of it being on sale. We begin with 1983's Zork, bundled with the rest of the Zork Anthology of 6 games in total, for only $1.79. How long will it last on the front page? You'll be the judge. * "Again?", you might ask, "when did they ever do the time warp?". Well, once you embark on a journey through time, all becomes relevant and there's absolutely no guarantee that what you are doing, you are doing for the first time. In fact, that's highly improbable. After all, time isn't linear. It's more like a giant wobbly-bobbly goggy-boggy ball of gaming awesome!

Very disappointed in the way this sale is being run. No way I am staying up 24 hrs just to see what games there are. Also quite frankly considering what people pay in Humble bundles and various other bundles a game like Rayman Forever should be less than a dollar. In regards to games already that were on sale I might have been interested in Carmageddon but uh no because I decided to be normal and sleep I miss out. Thanks GOG .... for nothing so far.
It is, I always played it with the keyboard.

thanks a lot to italy!
Bah!

So far Wizardry 6 & 7 has been the only one I was missing, it came and went while I was out, hopefully they do a second chance sale like on the holiday sale.

Yes... as a new user it seems to me that Gog is still slightly limited with sales like this... for instance, 1996 was the year of Diablo. No offense to Tomb Raider fans of course. But that was a genre-busting title, that will probably never be on Gog. It's a nice theme for a sale but I wouldn't really call this definitive in any way.

Edit: Ok, I guess Diablo was Dec. 31, 1996. But you get my point!

nrjank: disappointed. after buying my +/- buttons went away. I wanted to buy and click +1 to make all of you wait a bit longer.

cmdr_flashheart: You add 3 secs when you buy, so you did make it longer :]
but not as long as I wanted to make it.

MUAHAHAHAHA
It seems Justin Bieber got inspiration for his lame concert poses from the Rayman Forever cover. :P

Not too happy about having missed most out on most of the 90s games overnight, either.

I would prefer a new "year" every day, not every hour(s).

Well, first off, Diablo wasn't groundbreaking to anyone who had already played a roguelike game. Whereas Tomb Raider catapulted game characters into celebrities. I enjoyed Diablo more myself, but in terms of overall social impact, it's hard to argue against Tomb Raider for that year.

Regardless, GOG is entirely correct to pursue a sale like this, whether or not they can draw on what every person considers to personally be the most significant game of a given year. They are highlighting their catalogue, not attempting to produce the absolute list to stand for all time.

If you can find Diablo in this site...
Well damn, I missed space quest? And now we're in the late 90s, which is sort of an ugly portion of gaming in a lot of ways.
