There's more than just buying games incredibly cheap to our DRM-Free Time Machine Sale! We're ready to pass its steering wheel (or rather the control console) to YOU. Each game in the sale is offered for a limited time only, and how long we stay in its year is up to you! Each time you see a new game on sale you can vote to either add or subtract 1 second from the timer. Each time you buy a game, you add 3 seconds to the time of it being on sale. We begin with 1983's Zork, bundled with the rest of the Zork Anthology of 6 games in total, for only $1.79. How long will it last on the front page? You'll be the judge. What comes next, as the game of 1984? Let's find out!

Let's take a trip in GOG.com's DRM-Free Time Machine Sale! 30 great games from 1983-2013 will be available up to 90% off, and you get to decide how long each game is on sale. Ready? The technomagical gateway to 1983 opens NOW!

* "Again?", you might ask, "when did they ever do the time warp?". Well, once you embark on a journey through time, all becomes relevant and there's absolutely no guarantee that what you are doing, you are doing for the first time. In fact, that's highly improbable. After all, time isn't linear. It's more like a giant wobbly-bobbly goggy-boggy ball of gaming awesome!

gozer: it'd be nice to have some sort of list (preferably updated in the first post of this thread) of games that were on this sale ... I don't have time to sit at the computer whole day to wait for games to change, but I'm quite curious what games went on sale while I was away
This. If anyone knows what games were on sale already it'd be great. :P
seems that list is no longer being updated

johnnygoging: TR3 had improved graphics from TR2. But why would you give up TR2? Honestly. Why would you not recommend it? I can understand from the "TR got stale booooooo" sort of viewpoint. But skip in favour of another game? I don't get it. The fourth level in TR2 is just amazing IMO. But they really started to branch out with the kind of situations you find Lara in in TR2. I definitely enjoyed 2 as much or more than 1. Definitely. Really good addon level as well.

In 3 they brought in the dynamic lighting, and the non linearity and there are nice levels. But I don't think you should just skip the second one. I dunno. I mean I really loved it but I just love those games. If you don't like the pacing then maybe you can skip it. But there's more boss battles in TR2 as well. if you have a lot to play dunno. That fourth level is really good imo.
So TR2 is pretty much more of the same, yes? I wouldn't necessarily mind that. I'll give it a try. I thought TR1 was a bit too long though, after level 10-11 it started to outstay its welcome, especially because the levels all looked similar. Hopefully TR2 is gonna be more compact but more varied.

Sinistar is sleeping atm. List should be updated once he wakes up.

But posting a list does also help :)

Shadowcat: Is that a very-appropriate Braid reference? :)
The Braid quote is a Mario reference.

Malek86: Good old Lara. I got TR1/3 just a few weeks ago. I only played TR1 as of now... that alone is totally worth those 2 bucks, even if it gets a little tired by the end. I should probably start TR2 one of these days, but a friend told me to skip it and just go for TR3 instead. Anyone else agree with him?
You`ll make a terrible mistake if you skip TR2. Please don`t skip it. Imho one of best TR game in classic series.

This reminds me of one of those uber-cliched lines in hollywood disaster movies, where someone picks up a phone and says
"Get me the President!... *pause* ... Then WAKE HIM!"

yes they did begin varying the levels in TR2. they really went further with that in TR3. but it's there in TR2. everything isn't so perfectly square and obvious in TR2. you can drive a boat, and drive a snowmobile. it's nothing like you'd get now though. TR2 is pretty long too though. You might take a break after playing TR2. TR 3 does have a lot of improvements with level design. you could always play TR2 later. it's not like it's required stuff for 3, I would say play it in order if you're not sick of it but if you see yourself getting tired of it then you might just play 3 then. I really some of those levels in 2, but 3 is better for its level designing overall.

i *SO* hope GOG do a roundup at the end of the sale..I would have bought the above games if I hadn't have been asleep.

GOG - make an app so you get a notification when games on your wishlist are on sale please!
As I have no money to spend on games, whatsoever, at the moment, I won't benefit from this sale at all, but I still wanted to tell GOG I really enjoy this idea, and even if I can't buy the games, it has been quite an interesting trip down nostalgia lane, so far.

Also, it's really nice that the year I was born in got to be represented by the great Zork Anthology. ^_^

[EDIT] I hope the people that complained so much when the Insomnia sale took place are happy, now, as that is no longer possible for a game to 'Keane', they added a timer, like so many of you requested. Still, I already skimmed by some replies of people complaining about this new system... oh, well, I guess there's no such thing as pleasing everyone.

Well, I guess there's no reason not to at least try.

Ok thanks for the advice. It's been about three weeks since I finished TR1, so maybe the time is ripe to start the next one.

Sorry pal.
However, there might (or might not) be another run.

Seems GOG is selling on this promo top-notch games from its time - so not likely I'll stumble against sth interesting for me that I DON'T already own :-(
