I'd say Doom 1 and 2, and Star Trek 25th Anniversary for me. I had them but gave them up when they stopped working on Windows PCs without having to use DOSBox. Then again I don't have a floppy drive anymore so I couldn't install most of those games anyway.

I suppose that's one "downfall" of no DRM: you can sell it or lose it.

I'll go with the OP on this one with Doom 2. I miss that game big time.

Oddly enough, I STILL have every Dark Forces game minus the first one. Has anyone had any luck running the original discs in Windows 7, either with compatibility mode, native, or would you need to run a VM of Win98...or XP 32-bit?

DFII works pretty fine on XP 32 (minus 3D acceleration).
You can check Steam forums for information on 7/8 - Steam didn't tweak those games for modern systems, so it's the disc version - disc check + DRM.

Awesome, I wonder if I can get them running in 7 with XP compatibility mode. I have never bothered to set it up, but if it works I'd be happy as a clam to get those old games running again. Push come to shove I have an old 98 or XP laptop (battery long since toast) I could give them a go on. :D

Some time ago I got myself Steam version of MotS. Runned it to check if it works on my machine... and, 8 hours later, credits rolled on screen.

LMAO Yes, yes they are. I always loved the Kyle Katarn stories, they always felt to me what Lucas' prequel films should have been in terms of quality, story telling, and fun. I absolutely LOVED the cinematics done in Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2 so much. I used to watch them over and over and over again, I actually remember getting the Demo for free and then doing chores around my folks house to earn the money to get it.

I sat in my secondary school library (they had a faster internet connection than I did at the time) and writing down (not printing actually writing notebooks) of information on the games, from cheats (more or less a curiosity) to walkthrough guides, tips and a bunch of other stuff. I even made a Windows 95 or 98plus theme using screen caps, sounds I made myself and audio clips from the game. I actually made the Lightsaber activation and deactivation using only a Windows' audio recorder and the echo effect it could implement into the recording. :D

If that doesn't scream hardcore Star Wars fan, I'm really not sure what would.

If you liked those, aw, why can't I buy Rebel Assault 2 anywhere? It's like a full lenght Star Wars movie.

I never really sold my old PC (retail) games, except in some cases where some store took some in for store credit, when I was going to buy some other (PC) game from them. Like the time I traded in my (obsolete) Simcity 3000, in order to buy Simcity 3000 World Edition (Unlimited) from them. :)

One case though was Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri. Apparently I had traded it in after finishing it earlier (at least I couldn't find the game anymore), but years later I started longing for the game. But maybe two years ago I found a second-hand copy of it in a local flea market, and bought it once again for the second time.

Yeah, if Disney was smart they would release ALL of their LA properties for sale on all DD companies. There are a few SW games I don't have in my possession I'd love to get my hands on. Such as Yoda Stories, I have a copy but I'd love a working one.

Oh ouch, that sucks, yeah I remember hearing about the extra levels, but never getting around to play them. Haha, nice, I still remember the Bespin level they had, I would always do saber throw and blast people out the big window but make sure I was near the wall so I wouldn't get pulled out too. I was such a prick on that one. :D

Yeah, Bespin was the only one. My favorite trick was to disarm Boba Fett and drag him with me to the end. Surprise, Lando! :)
