There are very good choices for games and music to get without DRM, but are there alternatives for movies too?

I bought one episode of a TV show throught Itunes and I can't watch it outside Itunes and it lags in Itunes, so I will never buy a movie again from them if they don't change that.

Thank you.

Yes, it is a Russian torrent forum called "PM me and I'll give you a link".
You could just get a Netflix account. You dont buy titles and shows, you pay a monthly subscription and can watch as much as you want via streaming. Supported by XBox 360, PS3, PC and now some TV's can get it also.

Hardly DRM-free, you need to be online while watching the thing.
Yeah, but pirating movies and saying you will supply a link via PM is not cool

Only real way without piracy is going out and buying the DVD's that have the digital copy with them. Then select Windows format so it is in a format that is recognised by all types of players and devices.

There is also Blinkbox where you can legally purchase movies digitally :

Apparently Blinkbox has a form of DRM that wont allow the paid and downloaded movies to play on a Mac or burn them to a DVD. However, there are a few free programs available that will remove the DRM

I wish, man. I wish.
http://archive.org/ is the best place you can find for DRM-free movies and other goodies. You can for example watch classics like His Girl Friday (1940) or Night of the Living Dead (1968).

Yea, but distributing ads and crap in your movie is not cool either.

Especially when you're paying for the movie, and they are generating additional income with all those ads.

EDIT: I won't pirate movies if they release them without any crap. Since that won't happen, I really /care about it.

Yes, call this double standard, as I don't pirate software.

I have it, but many many things are missing and I would like to buy the movies I like...

It says "Not available in your country" for every movie... Why so many services are available only in the United States when it would take me less than one hour to go to United States?

So, I suppose I will continue to buy DVDs / Blu-rays... I hope a GOM.com will be created someday...

This, unfortunately. Pretty much limited to public domain and free culture stuff. :(

Good old music already exists.
This is a fairly significant example from recent memory: www.louisck.net
