C&C collection is on sale on GG :

Do I just have to run their shitty client during download/instalation, and essentially DRM-free afterwards ? I only care about Red Alert 2 + Expansion, Renegade and Generals + Expansion .

Looks like the whole thing is tied to Origin to me. I haven't had any issues with Origin and once you get the games installed, you can run it offline. But Origin will have to be fired up for you to play the games.
All the games I've downloaded from the Ultimate Collection require Origin to run, unfortunately....

That said, all the games run without issues on my Win 7 64 bit system, though I haven't downloaded Renegade...

So I'll have to open Origin every time I want to play them ?
The game requires Origin to run. however the games have been worked on so they will run on modern systems so you won't need to go around online looking for a fan patch or mod to get them working.

yes...
Huh? There isn't even a buy-button on that page for me...

That's because with Origin, it's really just an expensive rental.

I have the original physical discs for Red Alert 2 and Tiberian Sun plus expansions (will all the old patches)and can't install them on new systems...

Generals and Zero Hour does install and run on new 64 bit systems from the old physical discs... :/
Screw Origin! I have all those games on disc; everyone come over to my place and we'll have a little C&C party. Oh it won't be quite the spectacle galas that all the glamorous people are attending, but just like those we won't be letting Justin Bieber in either.
Ok, so pirated versions it is...

The irony never ceases to amuse and infuriate me, publisher implements extremely restrictive (and flawed) hoops in order to defeat the dreaded pirates... said hoops then piss off the end user enough that they turn to piracy for a copy without the bullshit.

I'm guessing regional restrictions.
low rated
Guys, you should check out TPB and Rutracker for some free GOGs.

Have you tried any of these? http://www.cncnz.com/hosted-projects/command-patch/

I know it says First Decade patch, but I'd have thought they would be compatible with original installers.
