Well, to be fair, I love fair use rights and consumers rights and all that other stuff which may or may not have grounding in actual common law, but in REALITY you're not buying a product. You're buying a limited license to use someone elses property. Now, because the license is in effect a contract between you and the property holder, in order for you to retain your "consumer rights" and simply sell your license to a 3rd party... you're implying being able to do that without consent of the property holder.
See the problem? It'd be like me, entering into a contract, with, oh, say a woman, promising her I'm her husband, then selling my husband-ship to some other guy. Yeah? Wouldn't she like to maybe have some input in that? The original contract was between me and her, not her and that other guy.
