If you guys are into audio books, be sure to check out the humble bundle. The problem for me is that now I really want to collect the rest of the series of one of the bundled books and I'm having trouble finding a place that sells them in the same downloadable, drm free, mp3 format. Even 'recorded books' which I think is where the humble bundle got these deals doesn't sell them this way. Any thoughts?
You can find tons of them on youtube, tho I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for .

I'm more looking for mp3 format that I can load on to my phone and use even when I don't have internet access.

Well, there are programs to download stuff from youtube, and you can convert them to MP3 I guess .
I would love more drm free audiobooks
I wouldn't know... my prime source of audiobooks is my local library, which has an amazing selection thought.

That's a good point, I should look to see what my library.

Anyways, DRM on audio books is usually less of a big deal as Audible allows you to burn a copy to CD that you can then rip into FLAC, mp3 or whatever you like.

I tend to feel rather conflicted about it, but the DRM aspect ought to be less of a concern to people than Amazon owning most of the English language audiobook market.
eMusic sells audiobooks and if my memory is correct they are DRM free (though you can only download them once I believe).
downpour.com They have a fairly decent selection too.

If you want a break from audiobooks, try an audio drama. bigfinish.com has a nice selection. Mostly known for Doctor Who, they also have Dark Shadows based dramas, Blake's 7, Sherlock Holmes, Dorian Gray and others.
Looked at emusic and downpour. They don't quite have the things I'm looking for, but at least they were DRM free mp3s.

Don't the cd's come in like packs of 12 for 1 book? I may have to resort to that, but it would be way more convenient to buy a download. Thanks for the suggestions!

I'm trying the free trial on audible to test this out...and wow, is it a pain in the ass. Uses up lots of media, forces me to install iTunes, which I hate, and is pretty time consuming. Anyone have a better way of doing this without paying for a lot of third party software? I'm hesitant to use virtual drives as those have caused game conflicts for me in the past. My goal is essentially to get audiobooks I pay for on my phone in mp3 format without any content management software. If this is the only process with audible, I may not use them. Does gog want to get into the audiobook business? :)

I don't disagree with that. It is a PITA, but Audible is unfortunately a slightly less obnoxious equivalent to Steam in the audiobook market.

Yeah, that's the process, unless you use software that I can't talk about or promote here. It basically just rips the audio as you play it like when people record off TV or radio.
LibriVox has free public domain audiobooks. Limited to public domain titles, of course, and community bases so the quality of reading varies. But it is all free.
