An interesting debate on DRM by "experts from the music industry". Even though it's about music, it's relevant to game DRM.

Great quotes:
-"DRM creates non-compliance"
-"People will pay for value"
I have a multitude of devices (Xbox 360, Zune, iPod, etc..) and I want files that work on all my devices, not some.

Agreed, that is one of the points made in the debate.
While it is assumed that some systems are fundamentally incompatible, ie. PC games won't work on a PS3, some systems artificially restricted by DRM when they would otherwise be compatible.
The question is, is this reasonable? Should I be able to play music I buy in my car, mp3 player and PC? I think so. Should I be able to install a game on my destop PC and laptop, assuming I can only play it on one PC at a time? I think so. Instead, I'm treated like a criminal while the real criminals get unrestriced access to their media/games.
I think the best quote on this comes from an interview with a Sony executive right around the time Bioshock came out. I do not know where this article is now, but I can promise you it is real. An executive in the DRM branch of Sony is quoted as saying (The basic message anyway),
"It is important to understand that music industries have to be protected. There is no legitimate reason why the customer should be able to play their music on their PC and on their iPod, they should have to buy two copies, two licenses to do this."
It was the most laughable thing I've read from Sony. The basic message is they think you should have to pay for a song multiple times for each platform you have. That is, PC, Zune, iPod, CD, Sony says you need to buy that song 4 times.

'Course there's a legitmate reason, Sony. Your customers, that are the sole reason for your existence, want it.

I'm still ticked I can't put copies of songs I got from Rockband on to my PSP. Listen man, I just want to listen to it on the go so I can get better.
According to the last figures, BitTorrent, eDonkey2000 use 70% of all the Internet traffic.
Dear industry morons, do you want to continue to use DRM to have the illusion of control on contents that you control no more when they go digital? You're welcome, my friends, go on, go on....
