Are you fascinated by dreams? I know I am. Some are gorgeous and breathtaking while others can make one's heart pound in fear.

I love everything about the dreams. I watch movies, read articles, listen to the stories... I even keep a journal of my dreams. There are a few particulary interesting ones that might be impossible for me to make up consciously. Sometimes there is a small gap of time in which I could still remember the dream and as much or little it is interesting, I'd like to share some in here.

Last night, for example... I was a fearsome pirate captain! Really. I dreamt that I had a lush black beard, half long black hair, some golden earrings and had a dark tricorne. My ship was huge and well maintained. My crew was big and everyone seemed to know his place. I was standing at the wheel when I noticed a huge storm coming from where the sun was sinking into the sea. And then I saw another pirate ship getting ready to battle us. I looked down to the deck and ordered my men to get ready for battle while unsheathing my sabre. But then the unexpected happened...
"Load the cannons with cabbages!" - I said. And my crew did so without any hesitation.
At this point my awareness in the dream became free. I looked over the deck again and saw up to 10 big opened wooden boxes, filled with cabbages, radishes, apples and some other round vegetables and fruits. Somehow I noticed that the enemy ship is loading their cannons as well. With...real cannonballs.

I guess I wasn't ready to see how the "healthy sea battle" goes. I woke up.

So, how do you feel about the dreams? Have you had any peculiar, hilarious or frightening ones? I would love to hear 'em!

Most of the dreams I had when I was younger were nightmares. Most of the dreams I have these days are so mundane, they're forgettable and feel more like poorly written sitcoms than anything. It's a pity, really.
Actually, I don't think I know this game. It is old, but no, I haven't heard of it. I only got know Sonic from those times.

Yeah, too many dreams are forgotten. It's a pity. I myself have nightmares, but very rarely.

its one of the sega saturns premium games back in 96
its a score attack fly em up

not half bad

and i forget most fo my dreams so i cant really say much about the topic at hand
If I tell my dreams I may get a team of XCOM operatives landing on the roof, though I can tell my dreams used to be like watching a movie where I couldn´t change anything, just watch. Later I started transitioning to dreams where I could, to some extent do things of my own will, even if for lapses. Nowadays every single dream I have I have full control of what I do in it, needless to say this has brought...........infinite possibilities......I can now change the course of the dream to what I want. I even had a dream about a situation that ended replicating on the "awaken life" that same day.
I can relate to what you say about remembering a dream for a short period......I used to wake up and remember it for a few seconds before it vanished completely, sometimes I would remember some part of it and forget another. But with "practice" I started remembering the full dream, sometimes it happens I do forget about it when I wake up, so I try to remember it and it works most of the time. I even have developed the "ability" to continue dreams. For example if I was dreaming something and and then woke me up, taking me out of sleep state into awake state I can get to sleep again and I continue the dream from the point I left it on. It has happened to me a lot of times, sometimes I even do it on my own will. It´s really nice to be able to "control" dreams.
And I must happily say that I haven´t had nightmares for years. They stopped after certain "nightmare", and it happened years ago.
In the days when I used to fly a lot for work, I would periodically have plane crash dreams. Only rarely were they of the 'wake up in a cold sweat' variety; the dreams were more like 'well, shit, that cliff isn't moving and we're not pulling up so that's that', and I'd wake up feeling a bit weird about it.

Nowadays (nowanights?) the plane crash dream is a rare occurrence and they're different. Instead of being this unavoidable event it's now more like 'hm, looks like the plane just doesn't quite fit in that spot we're trying to land on', and so it crashes but not catastrophically. And the dream then continues on in some really weird tangent as they typically do, like I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to get my luggage out of the crash, and then I can't find the rental car that I need in order to get to the customer... but I probably shouldn't go to the customer anyway since I somehow left home that morning wearing only one shoe and a ratty t-shirt. Whoops, left my dog on the submarine after it crashed. I suppose I should go get her from the blimp.

The best ones are where I can fly. As in just me, no machinery. In the dream I figure out some weird trick that allows me to take to the air, usually something to do with crossing my legs and waving or flapping them up and down. I never get high enough to soar with the eagles or that sort of thing, but it's more like the thrill of discovering how to do it in the first place and how to maneuver and stay airborne. Always a bit sad when that dream ends...

That's pretty much me too. I recall even dreaming of having sex with my wife. I mean, come on? I can do that in real life too.

Maybe the most interesting dream I've had in recent years was the one (and only) lucid dream experience I've had. It started as a very mundane dream, ie. I was having a housewarming party in my "new" apartment.

In the middle of the dream, I somehow realized it couldn't be my apartment because it was far too big (with many rooms etc.). Kind of odd, considering what kind of other unrealistic crap is plausible in dreams. That lead me to realize it was a dream.

After that I recall trying that normal lucid dreaming trick, ie. "wheee, I can fly!". It wasn't that great though, it was more like a colorful trippy flight through a kaleidoscope, for some reason. But it was kinda cool to realize I was in charge in the dream.

I myself have tried lucid dreaming in various ways and techniques. What I really learned - it's how to calm my body before falling asleep. Ever since then, I sleep good, really good. As for controling the dream... Sometimes it happens on it's own that I "wake up in the dream". I am still dreaming but become fully aware of what is happening and then I can make my own decisions.

I had experience of having a dream for the first time and not being able to control it - in the end something happened and I would wake up. After some time (it may be after a month or week, or just a day) I would have the same dream again. And right before the moment where the dream ended the first time, my awareness would kick in. It happens every time for me with dreams that I have again.

It's interesting that you have so many dreams about the plane crash. I would say you have a lot on your mind, concerning the work. What I am surprised is the flying. I never had such experience (or I don't remember). It must feel great!

Dreams... A couple of years ago, I spent a lot of time with this topic. I learned how to remember my dreams, had a dream diary and tried different techniques for lucid dreaming. I reached a point where I remembered three or four longer parts of my dreams every night. Some of them were pretty intense and I can still "see" them.

In one of those dreams I found some old, forbidden book about witches and witchcraft. I only skimmed through some pages together with a very close friend, when I had to go to the bathroom. I did what you do in a bathroom normally and was just turning around to leave it again, when I saw myself in the mirror... In real life, I'm a 2 meters and 110 kg guy. What I saw in the mirror, was still a 2 meters huge guy. But I guess I lost about 50-60 kg. I didn't wear a shirt and saw my ghastly thin but wiry muscular body. My eyes were completely black and my fingers were twice as long as normally. I instantly knew that I'm fucked and that I shouldn't have touched that damn book. The creature I saw was scaring the shit out of me! Then, I woke up O.O

I don't know why, but this picture is still very vivid and I can still fell this intense "You shouldn't have done this" feeling, years after I had this dream. I've dreamed weirder and scarier stuff, but this dream was different, in some strange way...

That sounds both interesting and scary. Now that you say this dream lingers in your mind after years passed, I remembered having one too.

In reality I am the only child in our family. My parents tried many times, but... Two sisters were born dead. I am saying this, because it has something to do with my dream.

So... I was dreaming that our family (my mother, father, me and my sister) were driving to some fields to camp. We arrived in the evening - sun was slowly setting down, coloring sky in yellow, orange and red. We were in the field of wheats. My father started unpacking tents. My sister... She was ~13 years old, had half-short brown hair, blue eyes. The moment I saw her, I became aware that I'm in the dream. But I was happy and a few tears rolled down my face. My sister (I never knew her name) ran towards the lake which was near the field, behind a small forest. I went after her - wanted to spend time, talk to her, get to know her. But before I ran, I saw my mother standing in the field and looking forward into the sky. She looked strange, as if she had no essence.

So I spent some time with my sister. We were looking at the water, cought a few fishes. Next day our family gathered all our belongings and we drove further (not far from the field) to a small house that belongs to some farmer. We rented that house, because sleeping outside was cold and exhausting. We all went into that house. My father was unpacking things, I and my sister helped him. I saw my mother standing near the door and looking outside. She still looked...empty, as if without a soul. Then she went through the door outside. Somewhere... After a while me and my sister went to look for her and we found the same small forest. Behind it we saw the same field. And in it we saw another family, camping. They were also four: husband, wife and two children. Anyway, my sister and I got back to the house and went to sleep.

The next morning our my father woke me and my sister with panic in his face. He told us to go into the car. Then we tried to drive away from the farm because farmer had a shotgun, shot in our direction a few times and kept on shouting "MURDERERS!!". Unfortunately, one of the tires blew in the yard. My father managed to drive us back to the house. We ran inside. He lifted the mattress from the bed and there were many guns. Rifles, shotguns, pistols... My father loaded a shotgun and gave pistols for me and my sister to defend ourselves from the farmer. My father ran outside to see if we can get out. Our mother was missing. My sister was terrified and I wanted nothing more than to keep her safe. Father saw that farmer is coming, shouting "MURDERERS!!". He ran inside, back to the room. Looked at us. He was panicing, crying... He then put a shotgun in his mouth and shot himself right in front of my eyes. I was shocked.

Even though I was dreaming, I felt a cold shivers on my body. I looked at my sister - she couldn't even scream. She was shocked and terrified, she cried. Everything happend in a moment... Before I could reach out to her, she pointed the gun at her head and shot herself. Just like that. I was standing in a room with two dead bodies, one of which was a sister that I loved even though I never had her. Farmer broke the door. I grabbed a shotgun from my father's still warm and bloody hands. I loaded it and pointed to the farmer to defend myself. He said "Put down the gun, boy". He was pointing his gun at me and seemed to be afraid as well. I asked him "Where is my mother?". "You don't know?" he asked. And then told me "We found her in the morning, dead, under the car of family in the field".

At this moment I realised that she killed herself. But until this day the dream haunts me with questions. Why did she do that? Who was my sister? I would very much like to know the answers, but it's something that may or may not happen...

Wow, Dessimu that sounds like a really wild dream. I have had dreams too where I had questions about why there was someone in my dream or why something happened, but some events in dreams just don't have any answers.

Most of my dreams are very lucid, but I've also had dreams where I was in control of the dream. I had some dream about my family being in a castle or a building that looked like a castle. This was a place I had dreamed up before, but the first dream with this building had been about a trip.

This time I must had been telling myself a story to fall asleep, because things went crazy. There was some guy hiding in the castle, I think he was crazy and hungry; he was trying to hide from the owners of the tourist attraction. He popped out of a doorway and told my family to be careful, not to let anyone go into some locked room that the owners would take special guests too.

He ran away, and my Dad said, "Well, we are going to listen to him. I think we'll just call the police if we see them take them to that room."

"Sure, we'll just make up an excuse. I've read enough teen horror novels years ago to listen to creepy guy when he gives a warning."

We finished our tour and stayed at some hotel next door. There was some mish mash about stolen items and people being locked in that room in the castle, maybe because they saw the kid of the owners. He looked like Scissor Man from Clock Tower 1 and 2 (the Japanese editions, not that CT 2 with the school girl running around her family's house and a hospital).

Anyway, there were a large crowd of rats or mice that my Mom was afraid of. I grabbed my Mom and we ran faster than the rodents. We got outside and we saw that the owners son was lurking around. I'd suddenly realized I was having a dream.

I decided to take control of this little chase and found something to throw as a distraction that this man. My mom and I ran to a well lit area. And, we could not find a crowd or any people.

I thought, well maybe my Mom has a gun with her. "Mom you need to get your gun out, we have to threaten him."

The owners son started after us and my Mom pulled out her gun and told him to stand down. When he saw she was serious and not afraid, he ran away because she scared him.

"I guess he only wanted to chase us as long as we were afraid," I said to my Mom.

She replied, "If he comes back I'm kicking his ass." (No surprise there, my Mom is my child hood hero.) Then i woke up and remembered the dream and wondered why I had such a detailed dream. The funny thing I realized was no matter what happened I was going to make sure my Mom and I stayed safe in the dream.

One time (not that long ago) I had a dream where I was sleeping in my bed, in my actual bedroom, so, it was like a not-dream :P since I was doing what I was apparently doing, so it was kinda funny. So in the dream I would wake up go to the bathroom, then go and make breakfast and then I would go back to bed, so at that point I woke up.
So I was thinking about the dream while going to the bathroom and think to myself it was funny to have a dream about making the same thing I´d do daily, then I went to make breakfast and got back to bed since I was sleepy still..............and (big twist).................I woke up! O_O
See if you can read that again and figure out what happened. Needless to say, that day I really understood the concept of "confusion". I stayed sitting in bed for a long time trying to understund what just happened.

So... You were sleeping and having a dream about dreaming another dream. It's like a triple penatration into your mind :D Cool! I had a dream about getting up, getting ready for school and the moment I stepped through the door, I woke up. Everything seemed so real that I though I might have seen the future :P But I never had such a cool experience as you did.

Although... I do remember one time when a dream mixed itself up with reality. I was a kid and sometimes my mother would come to wake me up in the morning. I know I was dreaming something then. But the strange thing was this. When my mother opened the door and came into the room to tell me "Wake up, breakfast is ready" I heard her and saw her every move. But somehow my dream made her appearance different - her skin was white as dusty snow, her hair was absolutely black. For a moment there, I thought I saw a different women, even though I knew she was my mother. That was one of the strangest things I experienced.

Exactly, it seems rather simple when written, but when I woke up from it I really didn´t understand what happened because the dream was so real that I thought I had already awaken and was actually doing those things not dreaming about them, plus since I had awaken already inside the dream it created a big confusion in my mind when I awoke "again", this time for real......................or did I :P
I stayed sitting for a while because I wasn´t sure if I was awake or not already. Quite confusing indeed.
