orcishgamer: As for the bisexual thing, there were several bisexual characters in DA:O, why is that political correctness? It's just adding in a feature that caters to way more of their fanbase (after all, many men playing female toons don't want to see their chick fucking a dude either).
avatar
StingingVelvet: Making EVERY ONE of them bisexual reeks of crowd-pleasing political bullshit to me. Whatever the motivation was it pulls me right out of the game and causes the romance stuff to be shoved in your face constantly.

You can't really romance him, just say sweet stuff and commit to looking into it later. Also, DLC.
Alright, I'm getting conflicting reports of how many people that you can romance are bisexual, but really, you're a hero, if everyone wants to bone you as part of their hero worship, I guess that doesn't bug me much, it seems pretty plausible if we're writing adult level content for games.

It doesn't really bug me, the bi characters in DA:O didn't much bug me, I suspect it was a well liked feature and simply got extended.

As a "trope" I much prefer that to some of the other ridiculous sexual tropes we have in games. I won't go into them here, I'm sure everyone's aware of them anyway.

orcishgamer: I have not played DA2 yet so cannot comment.

SimonG: You need to play it. I think you might like it.
Yar, I need to finish Alpha Protocol first as well as a couple others. Since it's apparently short enough and most of the issues I've heard about have been ameliorated with patches, I'll probably give it a shot.

I think "Romance options" have become somewhat of a "Bioware Gimmick" that everybody expects. Like insult swordfights in the MI series.

And while we are talking about the sexualisation of games, maybe I should mention why I like SR III.

Edit:

What bothers me most is the exclusivity in the Romance options. If you give me a space team of alienhookersupermodels, GIVE ME MY GODDAMN ORGY.

Lmao, since that's pretty much everyone's guilty pleasure, sure;)

orcishgamer: You can hurt his feelings and get your rep back up with him. If you have all the DLC there's plenty of buyable gifts you can give him available right from your camp.
I already gave him the Feastday Gift, back when he had a -30 or so opinion of me. I'm in Orzammar, the last of the quests I have to do. If I talk to him, he kisses me. I guess I can go the rest of the game not clicking on him, but that seems like it'd be a pain.
avatar
SimonG: I think you are a little bit over-sensitive there. I never had an issue. While I only play male chars, I never found either Fenix nor Anders especially "romantic". Also the Fenix man on man rivalry romance was pretty cool.
They both came on to me endlessly, and no I never clicked a heart icon.

It's not a huge deal but I certainly would rather not have romance stuff thrown in my face constantly the whole game. It's distracting and a little silly, the opposite of mature in most cases. I only mention the bisexual thing because it increases the quantity.

Either we have a different definition of "coming on" or you (subconsciously ;-P) clicked the heart icon.

I think Anders has one line before the said Icon which goes along the lines of "Hey, buddy, wanna get a nice Chardonnay put in some bubble water and have a nice DVD evening" or something like that. Than you can give him an "Uhm, sorry not really into that" and its good. With Fenix it's even less. No clue about them girls in the cup on cup department, but at least with the pirate girl it would be pretty much in character.

You can "cheat" by giving him several gifts. Do the snogging, let him down and shower him with gifts. (You can repeatedly buy those "cheat gifts" several times at the dwarf.

I don't recall being in that position, if romance someone else you can tell him "there's another". Sorry, I'm not more help, the dragon age wikia has a whole page of romance info for each character, maybe try looking there.

EDIT: You can always bump down his feelings towards you to about 50, I think he'll cease his advances and it won't affect the ending.

I don't remember the exact dialogue, it's been a while, but they definitely made it very obvious and the little heart was at the bottom saying "yeah go for it." It's just silly to me, but obviously a lot of people like it or they wouldn't do it.

That's what I mean, this is the only time he comes onto you. Which wasn't that of a surprise. And IIRC, this doesn't even come up if you are further in a relationship with a girl.

And after going "No", it's the end of it.

It's still silly to me to have it thrown at me like that, and since everyone is bi it happens with every damn character. It's annoying to me.

Not a huge deal though, just talkin' 'cause of the thread.

Can you? I thought there was only one of them. He's at +81, by the way. Zev is at +63 or something, and Morrigan is at +100 because I lied about killing Flemeth.

Uh, spoilers on that last one.

She wanted you to kill Flemeth. Or did you refuse to?

I said sure, went to Flemeth, Flemeth said, "hey, why don't you just tell her that you killed me? I'll leave and may or may not come back later for her," and I said, "can't you turn into a dragon? Fuck that shit, I'm out of here." Then you tell Morrigan that you killed her and Morrigan loves you.

I killed the bitch, Flemeth was not good people, even in a videogame filled with "not good people". She does turn into a dragon, perfect chance to harvest dragon scales:)
It has been years since I played Origins for the last time, but I used this wiki, and it helped me a lot:
