The official system requirements for Dragon Age Origins have been announced. Also, the game will have no DRM other than a simple (non SecureRom) disk check. I'm pondering getting this. Any early impressions? Who else may be getting it?

If you liked Baldur's Gate get it, and on the PC at that.
I have the crappy (in comparison to others) collectors edition on pre-order.
I also very easily have over the recommended specs!
Happy days.
Crap nuggets :p
I only have a "Dual Core" P4. Ah well, it will be a fun test.
The game looks pretty generic, similar to Fable. Not to say thats a bad thing, as I am referring to Fable: Lost Chapters, but it doesn't look groundbreaking.

I do wonder how it will compare to the Forgotten Realms games they've made, since then they had a vast amount of background already there to draw upon. This time they have to make it all themselves. It remains to be seen if they can make something original, or if they borrow too heavily from that which has come before.
Yes. Will be getting. And I'm kinda impressed with the min stats. I've got the recommended so I'll be very happy.
But 20gb hard drive space?!?! Bugger me!.. I need a new hard drive.
Karl
20GB!? That's huge.

It's an RPG. That's a good thing.

I want an RPG that isn't sold on discs, rather they sell you a new 1.5TB drive with it already installed on. ^_^

Hey, if the price is reasonable...

I agree that it's a good thing. It's going to have full voice acting, and the story and world should be quite large.
My laptop is Dual 2.6, 4 GB RAM, and a Radeon 4650 with 1 GB of video RAM. It's a touch under the recommended but hopefully will play it well. I will have to free up some space for it though. I currently have 35 GB free, but hate to be that close to full because it takes 9 GB to rip a DVD, which I do often.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to get it. :-)

I'm pretty sure I will too. But probably not before the GoTY version given the number of games I have to play through.
As for your space issues, you might want to consider an external drive. By that I mean buying an internal drive and an enclosure. Don't buy 'proper' externals.
Holy crap 4gb of RAM for Vista? When I put 4gb in this computer I didn't think Vista would want to eat it all already.
Looks like I'm sticking with XP.
